water meter

I would like to get a water meter to attach to my hose when I fill my fresh tank so that I know fairly accurately how much I have pumped in. Anyone have any ideas as to where I should look?

Don't know if a business like tractor supply would have one or not,but if you can check with a concrete transit mix plant, they will know. They use the ones on the mixers that register in gallons. Bill

I'm curious as to why you would need one. I fill ours until water begins coming out the overflow and/or fill pipe, then I know it's full.

Orv, sometimes I want just enough water to make a short haul. I have ran out by trusting the tank level display that said I had 1/3 tank full.

Break down once like I have and you will always travel with plenty of water and your holding tanks empty. There was no camp ground anywhere with in reason so we had to boon dock at the dealers lot over the week end. Everything locked up and no outside water anywhere. With my wife and I plus 3 kids you need facilities. You will not see any difference in your MPG or pulling ability if your fresh water tank is full or empty.

On my mountaineer I could only travel with half or less fresh water -- the location of the fresh water holding tank was such that it takes weight off the pin; makes for a very uncomfortable (and probably dangerous) ride. When needing more we consciously have to load moveable items forward to counterbalance the water weight.

We always travel with full fresh water tank and empty gray and black water tanks. Except when traveling between boondock sites. Then we travel with whatever is in the sewage holding tanks (gray & black water) at least until they are almost full so we can then dump. I know people who will not travel with any water in their fresh water tanks because they feel it reduces their mpg. My question: How much reduction will 400 additional pounds of water produce? I don't like partial fresh water tank either because it sloshes back and forth. I'd rather have it full then there is no water movement when traveling. Is that understandable.
