made our decision

Hello again,
I finally got my husband to go see the montanas and he, or should I say we decided on the 3400RL. When we both went in it it just felt like home. Since home it will be than that was good If anyone has this same model with a w/d in it how do you like the setup? Is it pratical or would it be best to leave it as storage space? Also we have a 2001 Dodge Cummins HO 6 speed with air bags. We were thinking about putting a chip in it. Does anyone know anything about chips? Sorry for all the question. But we are new to this and we want to get as much right as possible.
Thank you, Kent & Shanna Clark and JIM & Jake dachounds brothers and do they evey act like brothers

If I had seen the 3400 before the one we got, we would have gotten it. I love the floorplan. I decided not to have a washer/dryer because I need all the storage I can get.
You made a great choice. Good luck.

You did good. Kinda oppionated you see. Had a splendeed in previous 5er let it go with trade and decided to see how we did this year on the road b4 we do anything. 04 has a step shelf in the bottom of closet that we are going to remove. Wife really likes the closet so I doubt if we will have anything mechanical in it. I don't think the 05 has the bottom shelf in the closet. Correct? Great choice!!! Dan

Well, as you see, you have alot of 3400,s-in-law. Hope you enjoy yours as much as they seem to enjoy theirs. Congratulations. Have a great adventure. By-the-way, there are no sorry questions. It is a sign of wisdom when one tries to obtain knowledge.

I don't personally have one - yet, but from all my research for the Dodge/Cummins, it seems the Edge EZ chip would be the best route for towing. Edge claims gains of 65HP and 185 ft. lb. torque with the EZ model. They make several models with different degrees of power gains. The EZ should give you the extra power for towing without going overboard. Just keep in mind, with any power enhancement, gauges are a good idea to keep tabs on high EGT and turbo boost readings. Here is a link with some info on the Edge products. http://www.dieselspecialists.net/edg...ucts.htm#dodge

We do not have a chip but a program to improve our Ford diesel. It really improved the performance/gas mileage and it has lots of power going uphill.

Great choice you've made there, I'm sure you're going to love it. It's one of our favorite models and my sister has one.

I can't offer any help on the truck stuff. That's RC's department!

Hello Shanna...and welcome!

We've been in our 2004 3400 1 year now. We like it a lot. We haven't seen a couple of the other models yet. I hear the 3500 is much like ours, so am interested in seeing the difference(s).

If you do a search on 3400, you'll come up with a lot of input. Changes people would make or have made -- or comments from people who wouldn't change a thing. The whole thing is beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

My husband's ONLY requirements were a big back window, a fireplace and a TV located where it wouldn't give him a stiff neck while watching. So...he was easy.

We don't have a washer/dryer YET -- I'm a big procrasinator. What I can tell you is that I don't need that closet for storage. I have more than enough. In fact, I've still got empty storage in the LR and bedroom. Now, understand that I've become very creative with figuring out multiple uses for one item. An example: I refused to give up one of my cast iron skillets. It belonged to someone very dear to me -- and I think of her with warmth and love every single time I use it. So...that one skillet is a skillet, a baking pan, a roaster, and a potential weapon (hahahahaha). Plus it can be used on the grill.

I gotta run....hubby just walked in and wants to chat.

Have fun
