Question UtOh! I think I have a leak!

We have been camping at Fort Wilderness, in Florida for about 10 days, and it has rained nearly every day. We got home yesterday and I notice the front of a slide out looked as if it had bubbled out. I immediately suspect water damage.

Today I got on the roof and found the tape on the slide out roof had pulled back allowing the water to run into the wall.

The wall and flooring inside are dry. I have closed up the unit and I am running a dehumidifier to remove the moisture.

Do you think I should be concerned about mold now, or did I catch this in time?

Also, I have an extended warrantee. Do you think the tape pulling off would be covered?

Most extended warranties don't cover structural issues, only appliances and parts, but check the fine print on yours.

You should be fine. Mold usually is when something stays moist for a longer period and mold spores are floating around. With what your doing with dehumidifier, all should be good.

It sounds like delamination. There is a device that will detect moisture behind walls. Our RV service guy has one. You place it against the wall and it detects moisture.

You don't say what year your unit is but I'm assuming it is at least two or three years old. I would get up on a ladder and clean all the slide tops and inspect them. You showed your one that looks like the side is delaminating and it has a lot of buildup around the tape and joint there. Clean it up good peel the old tape off, clean it even more and reseal it with Eterabond tape and then use Dicor self leveling sealant along the edges of the Eternabond. The delamination can be reworked but you need to know what you are doing to do it. If the wood under it is decomposing you will need to replace the whole end panel. Watch real closely also on the rest of your slide because water has a way of getting into the smallest spaces and you may have more delaminating in the future.
