Moonshine Creek Campground, Balsam, NC

We have reservations at Moonshine Creek starting in late July. Anyone familiar? Looks good on the web site, and most reviews were favorable, but nothing like a fellow MOCer's sage advice!!

I haven't been to "Moonshine Creek" although I'm a native North Carolinian.
We will be having our Mid Atlantic Rally in the Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg area from 30 July thru Aug 5. We will be at the River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville Tenn. please join us for a great time.
I found Balsam on the map. It is just a short distance from where the MA will be . Beautiful country there. Maybe a little cooler in the mountains.

We used to stay at Moonshine Creek with our popup. We don't go there with the Montana. The sites are tight with a big rig, and they pack them together. Otherwise it's a nice campground with the creek running through it. Did you want to stay in that area around Waynesville and Sylva?

What cwalker says. It was great with the pop-up!

Been all over those mountains, but have not been that way in a while. Looked like a nice spot so we thought we'd try it. Office assured me we could get on 39 OK....would they lie?? If it's on the internet is it not true????

Thanks for the invite, but we have never been fans of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Too touristy and commercial. I know all you folks would be fun, but not the area. Mayhaps another year in another place!

You might be able to get in 39, but I hope you're really good at backing up. The road is very narrow, and I've seen people there take a good 15 minutes to back into their site. Good luck!

15 minutes? Shoot, I have taken WAY longer than that on more than one occasion! LOL! Thanks for the warnings. I will at least make sure I get there in the cold clear light of day so I can take my time.
