WET BOLT KIT INSTALLED ON 3455SA

Well, I had the wet bolt kit installed on Monday and am very pleased (probably could have done it myself, but really didn't want to). The shop where I had it installed has done them before so I didn't even need to tell them about placing the zerks facing inward so they were easier to get to FYI: When I was talking to them after the install, the tech told me they did grease all the fittings and they all accepted grease but I should probably give each of them a couple of more squirts after the first 200 miles or so when everything has had a chance to seat. Total cost for the install $194.76 (2 hours labor + tax).

I also asked them to check the rubber springs for the Mor-Ryde LRE suspension and although the springs are showing signs of wear and cracks, everything is within tolerance.

Nice price on the installation, less than $200! Only 2 hours, that's great! You obviously DID NOT do this in the over-priced, over-taxed state of California!

I just have to ask. Did you replace the "Z" brackets at the rubber springs on the MOR/ryde with the sleaved "Z" brackets for the wet bolts? Your price sounds great especially if those "Z" brackets were replaced.

My reason for asking is that those "Z" brackets showed a significant amount of wear when I replaced mine. One of my rubber springs had to be replaced due to delamination. Because those spring "Z" brackets come in two pieces, they need to be replaced with the "Z" brackets joined (welded) together by a sleave to accomodate the "wet" bolt. Otherwise the "wet" bolt going through your shackle and "Z" bracket is worthless because the grease has nowhere to go, so it is just bolt on metal with no grease. The OEM arrange didn't even have bushings there.

Stiles,
Are the "Z" brackets the item I have circled in the photo below? If so, then yes they were replaced and the ones that are on there now do have sleeves..

Jack,

Where did you get them done? I still have my kit from the Spring Rally. It is starting to get nippy out around here, and most likely I won't get them done myself unless I wait until January in Quartzsite. It may be that I might have the rig up in your neighborhood before then, so would consider using your guy if it works out that way.

Thanks

Exactly, but I see now that they call them "shackle brackets". The MOR/ryde guy called them "Z" brackets at one time.

That you got them replaced means you got the job done. Congrats! Early in the game, there was some confusion about those shackle brackets, so that is why I mentioned it. I did mine myself, so I know what goes into the job. It sure gives a measure of confidence to get them done.

Jimmy,
Here is the info:
JR's RV Repair & Rebuild
1162 State Route 20
Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284
Phone: 360-854-9722

It is a nice little family run business. Nothing fancy but they came across to me as fair and honest folks. I recommend you call to set up an appointment as they were very busy when I had our rig there, but with a little planning they should have you in and out the same day. I made my appointment about 3 weeks in advance and they had my rig done the same day I dropped it off.

Stiles,
Thanks for the reply. I am glad we got the "Full Monty" (no pun intended)

You can get the wet bolt kit from DEXTER and the "Z bracket or Shackel Bracket" from Mor/ryde. Or you can order the complete set from Mor/ryde who will get the wet bolt kit from Dexter.

If you have not done so I suggest you read EXNAVYDIVERs post about doing the last install. Also you may need a Ream to open the bronze bushings just a little.

Best of luck.
