Had my oil changed at a dealership in Abilene, TX. I wanted to ask about something and went back to the lift. Well, those young whipper snappers were putting 65 PSI in my front tires. I took him around to the driver side door post and pointed to the 75 PSI listed. My Pressure Pro would have warned me, but I caught it before it happened.

I'll let my GMC dealer rotate my tires and even inflate them, which I always double check. So far they have always done it by the book. But no onen but a reputable tire shop ever works on my tires.

This was supposed to be an oil and filter change. As a "courtesy", dealers do a general check of things (looking for additional work is my guess) including checking tire pressures. This minimum wage guy got it wrong.

For the reasons noted above, I do my own oil changes, rotate my own tires (yes it can be a job with a dually), and air my own tires. At least if something is screwed up, I don't have far to go to find the guilty party!

Yep! I took my truck to the dealer for LOF (with my own oil & filter) and the lube kid came out to tell me that I had not supplied enough oil. After walking back to the rack with him, I had to explain that 1 gallon = 4 quarts and 2 1/2 gaollons = 10 quarts.

I had my second oil change in a row where they put in 15 quarts. The manual calls for 12 quarts plus 2 when replacing the filter. 12 + 2 = 15? I didn't go to that school. Needless to say, I'll go back and have a talk with the service manager next week.

Orv haven't you heard about New Math..........
It's simple.
12+2= 15 12 being 10 and above 12+2 = 5 + and the first 10 = 15 got it.

I was slow on this as well but now I get it, much like binary or hex, each number can only occupy one space so 12 is really 1+2 which is 3, then plus the 2 for a total of 5, plus the original 10 ( no ones, carry a 1 to the 10s place) so we 1*10, plus 1+2+2 which gives us the 15. Whew, no wonder I loved it when we got out of NEW MATH and my folks could help me.

Sure and we have 11 fingers.. hold your hands out in front of you..Go to the far right.. the little finger is finger # 10, the next to the left #9, then 8, then 7 and the thumb is in position 6..then 5 on the other hand = 11.

I learned when I first bought the Duramax, take only the amount of oil to the dealer you want put in the truck. I took 3 one gallon containers of Rotella Synthetic to my dealer. You guessed it; the idiot they had changing oil put all three gallons in the engine. When I get it changed now, I watch their every move.

I do my own oil changes...the only extra expense was buying some heavy duty ramps to run the truck up on, the old ramps were not strong enough for the diesel engine's weight. Also, having the truck up on a ramp, I get an extra half quart of oil out of it due to the front end being elevated.

I think a person has to watch them all regardless of the repare shop be it for autos, trucks, or Rv repare.

I take my Duramax to the local Chevy dealer. After I puchased it in Nov. 2001 from a dealer about 40 miles away the local dealer sent me a coupon with my truck ID# on it for the life of my ownership for oil & filter for $9.95. They honor it today.

I had something like that with my 96 Ford, except it was for 29.95 but unlike yours in the small print at the bottom said Diesel not included, but after haggeling with them for a while they agreed on 49.95 with a filter, normally it's 95.00. I used that all the way untill Feb this year every 3000 miles. I got my moneys worth, and it look like you are doing the same.
Will that still be good after the force GM to file for bank rupcey, on the news this morning thats seem to be what the government wants them to do.

Every time I drive by the dealer I look to see if they are still open, so far so good.
