Mysterious Brown Fluid
Staying on Mustang Island near Port Aransas in our 3400 RL. After being here over a week we noticed a brown fluid in the lens of one of the bedroom light fixtures (we rarely turn them on). Wiped it out, and a few days later it recurred plus we saw it along the seam in the ceiling. Cleaned it off and no recurrence for several days. I will try to post some pics. Just wanted to see if anyone had experienced this and what it ended up being. Not a lot of fluid, just enough to concern us. We did have all the seams in the roof redone less than two years ago by a competent shop.

I would get up on the roof and look for leaks. Look for breaks in the sealing material around the TV Antenna, the AC and the seam along the front where the roof attaches to the cap. Also look for tears where a branch may have got you. Once the water gets in, it can travel quite a distance to find a place to drop in thru the ceiling.

Pull the light fixture and look above it. the brown water could be. Water from condensate from the air duct ether the cold side or return side of you have a quiet system and if the light is near it. Leaking air conditioner condensate drain in to the roof. leaks from the air conditioner gasket. tv antenna, wind driven rain when you are pulling down the road. leaks from roof and too many to list, but for sure you have a water leak from somewhere.

As stated in post #4, Water WILL find the path of least resistance and make its presence known there.
