Missoula to West Glacier, best route?
We are headed from Missoula to Glacier NP tomorrow taking hwy 93 to Poulson. from there we could stay on the east side of Flat head lake and take hwy 35, or go up the west side of Flat head lake and stay on hwy 93. any recommendations? Anyone have experience on hwy 35 pulling a 40' trailer?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have done the west side on 93 from Elmo just north of Polson. No problems with a 40' Montana and long bed CC truck.

Thank you. on the way back from Glacier i'm planning on taking 28 from Elmo and heading down to St Regis to pick up the I90 heading to CDA'l. I assuming you may have come up that way and it is good to go with the Montana.

Highway 93 on the west side is the fastest route. Highway 35 on the east side is more scenic but slower, more curves and narrower. Either will accommodate a forty foot 5er.

Just left Polson this morning after 8 days at Polson/Flathead Lake KOA (very nice CG, great views). Over the 8 days we did both routes. As previously posted, no issues with your rig either way. I found 35 to be quicker to West Glacier than 93, especially if you are going direct. Also, be prepared to meet a lot of your fellow campers.

Thanks for all the input. we chose to go up the east side of Flat Head lake on hwy 35 today. your right the road is a little narrow with really no shoulders to speak of. However, a really nice drive. was able to maintain the posted speed limit all the way around the lake. and avoided the city traffic. Thanks again for the suggestions.
