Axel Grease All Over Wheel
I think the seal for one of my bearings blew since there is grease all
over the inside of the axel hub and rim. Anyone know how much it is
to repair this. Just got home from a trip and noticed grease all over.
Also I got a trailer brake warning on my truck dash and also on the brake control. Anyone have any ideas?? Any help would be appreciated.
Also did EZ lube last summer and did it properly turning the wheel etc. Any help would be appreciated.

My advice is vist e-trailer all the prices are there , one thing if you order the backing plate with the brake shoes are side specific and the hubs come with the seal , bearing and races. ( the races are installed already )

I don't have a repair cost, do my own work. May be pretty inexpensive, pull the hub, bearings likely fine, if grease did not contaminate brake/lining, matter of cleanup, repack the bearings, and install a new seal. . Pop out the old seal and tap the new seal in with a hammer and block of 2 by 4. Slide the hub back on the spindle, adjust, and done. Since one seal went, I would repack and replace seals on the other 3wheels as well. I am not a fan of EZ lube, prefer the old fashioned method.

You will need two left and two right brake backing plate assemblies, four seals, splices for the brake wires, a lot of rags and solvent to clean up the mess, one can of new grease, and you will need a shop who can turn the drums, both the brake surface and the armature surface for the magnets. There should be no reason to replace the drum/hub assemblies, unless they are worn out of tolerances. I would give you all the part numbers, but you did not divulge your model and year of your rig. I am assuming you are not going to use the E-Z-Lube brake greasing system when you get everything fixed.

It is too easy to overload the hubs using easy lube. I think it's much better to pull hubs, clean and inspect bearings, repack, install new seals. JMHO
