While in Wisconsin, cross the river to McGregor Iowa and see the Effigy Mounds National monument. Interesting visit about the indian mounds in the area. Also a great view of the Mississippi River from up high.
And further south, there is Dubuque. Julian Dubuque established it around 1800. It supplied shot to the war of 1812 - floated the bullets down the river to New Orleans. The original Shot Tower still stands. Also has a lock and damn at the edge of town with an overlook from a city park on a hill

When in Mich. I would suggest Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. The museum Has every thing not just cars. We went many years ago and plan to revisit when we retire.

In Ohio, I'd recommend Hocking Hills State Park for great hiking and scenery and swing through Dayton and go to the Air & Space Museum at Wright Patterson AFB.

In Indiana, there is Indy 500 track tours in Indy, Turkey Run State Park is also a scenic/great hiking park and there are multiple old covered bridges in the area, and depending on timing for going to the Rally, Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne is an option.

Options for Michigan are Lighthouses all over the coasts and lots of micro-breweries and wineries.

Plan more than just the dates of the Fall Rally in the Elkhart/Goshen area. We did 10 days our first year, then 14 days the next year, then 18 the next year. We will do 3 or 4 weeks our next trip to the Fall rally - so much to see and do. Plus the Fall Rally official dates are wednesday thru wednesday, but by the sunday before more than two thirds of the park is full. Enjoy - you will meet some really nice people.

When in Michigan do the Upper Peninsula it's beautiful. And if you are adventurous go to the shipwreck museum and see the bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald.

X2 on DQDick about the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. We stayed at the Ontonogan Township Park campground - water and electric only but easy access to dump station - that backed up to Lake Superior. Awesome views and sunsets. Very inexpensive.

In lower Michigan, we love Silver Lake Sand dunes near Mears. Great off roading area for toys but jeep tours are available.

When in Wisconsin, do the Dells. Baraboo has a couple of great restaurants.

As said above, the Hocking Hills and the Air Force museum in Ohio are top places to visit. We would add Ohio Amish country to that list. Also the Pro Football Hall of Fame is in Canton.

Thanks everyone for the input. We're making a list now. Then it'll be time to work on the route we take.
