Added Shelves to 3585SA Closet (Photo)

Our 3585SA floor plan provided us with a tall, angled cabinet by the door that had no shelves in it. The design was a waste of space; anything we put in there was just stacked on top of whatever had gone in before it. A friend of ours added a couple of shelves for us today, and now we have a lot of useable space in that area.

Our friend also cut the sides of the wood platform under the bed so that we can go from a king mattress to a queen mattress. We hate to lose the extra sleeping space, but the bedroom looked like nothing but a wall-to-wall bed (which it pretty much was), and I was tired of having to open the closet doors to have enough room to make up the bed every day. Two more things finished on the "to do before we leave for Texas" list!

Another example of "owner knows best"! Looks great and functional to boot!

Looks great! You should get more use out of that than you would have before. We expanded our TT from a trailer DBL to a queen and then when we traded for the Monty had them cut down the king and put our TT queen mattress in (it was a high dollar sticks and bricks model). Love the room in the bedroom and sleep great since we were used to a queen anyway.

Nice job on the shelves!
You will enjoy the extra room after cutting down on the bed size.

Good mod ... what did he use to support the shelf itself on the sides? Was it glued, nailed, or screwed?

Good job. Looks much more functional than just an empty cabinet.

dieselguy, our friend screwed the shelves in, but after he saw how thin the walls of the closet were (no surprise to us), he asked if we minded if he used some glue, too. We didn't mind.
