traveling to San Diego
We will be travelling from Topeka Ks to San Diego ( Chula Vista ) in September.
We went 2 years ago true Oklahoma ,Texas, New Mexico ,Arizona ,and I would
Like this time to go true Colorado ,Utah onHi 70/40 and I 15 to Las Vegas
What is to be expected about road condition etc going in the mountain towing a 3400 RL
I am sure many of you have done this and I would welcome any info
Thanks in advance to my fellow MOC members
We are planning to make the trip in 4 days around 400 miles per day

Did the route last fall with our 3400, no problems. Just take your time, some beautiful scenery.

John, what route are you taking? We've made that same trip several times since before we started fulltiming we lived in Topeka and since Chula Vista is where Vicki grew up and where all our kids were born.
We've taken I-70 to it's end in Utah and then down to SD. We've gone south through Liberal to Tucumcari and taken I-40 across, then south to SD.
And we've cut down to I-10 and then I-8 on in to SD.
We've also taken US 50 across Colorado.
You shouldn't have a problem with any of those. I-70 is the more beautiful of those routes. But the others are nice, too, if you've not already gone those routes.
If you just want to get there and prefer interstates, I'd probably recommend I-70 to US 156 west of Salina, down through Great Bend to Dodge City, Liberal, taking US 54 to Tucumcari, I-40 to Albuquerque, then south on I-25 to Hatch. At Hatch I'd take that diagonal over to I-10 at Deming (that road from Hatch to Deming is good towing road). The west on I-10 to I-8 and on to San Diego.
For the prettiest route I'd stay on I-70 to it's end in Utah, then down through Las Vegas and on from there.
Have a good trip.

This will be my second trip to San Diego ,first time we took the Oklahoma ,Texas,New Mexico ,Arizona , California way .
I never went all the way on I .70 and Utah ,we are not in a hurry
And thanks to Helmic & Streigle I will definitively take that road
I love the mountains and scenery
We will probably never be full timers ,but will stay in our 3400 rl
At least 6 month of the year .
Most of our kids and grand kids still live in Topeka and we like our
House to much to sell it ( 2 minutes from lake Shawnee)
Thanks again for the great info

Good luck to you and I hope you have a very enjoyable trip.
Our kids are in Lenexa, Leavenworth, with a third in California. We still have friends in Topeka, though.
