Need some advice on mounting a TV in the bedroom

We have a new 345DBQ, and love it. I want to mount our 19" LCD TV from our old rig in our bedroom. There is a TV feed and 12V supply mounted on the ceiling near the wall to the left of the bedroom window.

I know there is a stud in the wall there, my stud finder located it OK, but I don't know what the stud is made of? Is it wood or aluminum perhaps? Also what length of screw can I use into this stud? Want to make sure the TV is held solidly.

Hope someone can help, don’t want to mess up the new rig, we have only had it for 2 weeks!
Thanks in advance!

The stud is aluminum. Look in your basement and you can see the gauge of material you're dealing with. If it were me, I would use some 1 inch self tapping screws.

You didn't mention the year of your unit, but some new ones mount an LCD tv on a bedroom wall. You might want to look at one of those to see how they mounted them.

Hopefully others will chime in so you get some other ideas to work with too.

Thanks - now you mention it you are right, I can see the framing from the storage area.

1" self tapping screws seems appropriate.

In the Mountaineer literature they mention a ceiling mounted TV as an option for the bedroom but I cannot find pictures of it and I think I prefer the idea of wall mounting it.

Thanks for your help.
