Fireplace

I would like to install a fireplace in my 5er. Robbie gave me a Dimetic (sp) model number, however, as far as I can tell, it is no longer available. My openning is 27x20x11. If you happen to know of a fireplace that would work, please let me know. Of course, I am looking forone that can be used as a heater also. Thanks.

Mike I found mine on the Dimplex web page. Model 2309 is 23.2 wide and 19.8 tall and 10.8 deep. We installed ours and love it.

Mike, I failed to mention that I bought mine online from Lowes's website and had it shipped to me. Try them as they have a lot of different sizes.

Mike, I got mine from http://www.westfurnishings.com/elect...e-inserts.html for our 3075. It appears that it comes with a remote control now which ours didn't have. I used the 23" model and it fit good in the cabinet after a few modifications. If it would help, I can and try to find a picture of it.

I need to have the front of the fireplace flush mounted. It cannot protrude from the cabinet because I only have about 3 1/2" clearance with a slide coming in. Can the 2309 be flush mounted with a trim kit or something from the mfg.

Don, were you able to flush mount yours. What model number did you get?

The model we had has been discontinued, but was similar to the 23" models available now. It looks like one of the new models has LED lights and the other a remote control.

I removed the back of the cabinet to gain a little more depth, remove a few screws and it comes out. The fireplace extended past the cabinet about 1" and I had a small mantel that was about 2" past the cabinet. I don't remember the exact distance between the cabinet and the slide, but it was about the same as yours.

Sunseeker. I like the music in your picture trail album. It made me stare at the pictures a little longer.

Sorry I digressed but Sunseeker's link has some nice music.

Thanks. I will try to contact the mfg for more info. Did you say it was available through Lowe's?

Mike,

Here is the information I gave you. You might want to check with Lowe's to see if they have a compliment, or you could call Dimplex direct!

Yes, Robbie, I have that info. I will need to try the mfg, because my Lowe's has not yet brought in their fireplaces. The mfg and Lowe's websites do not list the model you have as a current model, that is why I am starting a preliminary search for a different/comparable model. Per your suggestion, I will probably need to go to them mfg. I will let you all know how the search goes as you have all been so helpful.

Mike,

If my poor memory serves me right, Lowe's didn't have the fireplaces in stock or list them on the internet sites until the fall season.

Yes, I bought mine in October at Lowe's.

I just did a search for the item number at Lowe's...

Here is a link to the fireplace. Dimplex Fireplace

On this site, there is a product availability by zip code. If it is not in your area, I am sure you could special order it at no additional charge.

When I tried a model lookup it did not work. A problem seems to have arisen. When looking at the dimensions, it is larger than my opening. The real problem, however, is the depth of 12.3 inches. My maximum depth is 11 inches and the next inch runs me into my hot water tank.

I looked at this site http://www.westfurnishings.com/elect...3ef024gra.html. This seems to fit and I can get it FOB for $389. I may have to do a little shaving of the height, but the rest seems to fit. For those EBay experts, is this model available on EBay?

Mike,

On mine, I had to cut the left side of the cabinet larger. In the back, I took a piece of wood out that gave me the extra couple of inches I needed. The fireplace then fit right up against the aluminum framing. I also had to modify the height of the opening too.

Here is a link from Lowe's to the one I used. Lowe's Site

My problem on the depth, is that I would have to move my hot water tank. To be honest, I don't want to do that. I have decided to go with http://www.westfurnishings.com/elect...3ef024gra.html. Should be here in about 7-10 days. I got it for $389 (including S & H and sales tax). I may have to make a slight adjustment for height. I am not sure until it gets here. I will post before and after pictures when the install is done...assuming I remember how to do that. Thanks for all the help.
