Installing Laminate Flooring

I know some of you have swapped out the carpet for laminate flooring. That's what I'd eventually like to do also. We've been in our rig for less than 2 months and I've already had to scrub the entire carpet. There's just too much traffic to expect it to stay clean. Plus it seems that the dust just gets sucked in from the outside. Anyway, my question is, when installing laminate, how do you handle the transition for the slides:

1. To prevent the laminate from interferring with the slide operation.
2. To give a "clean edge" to the junction when the slide is out. You don't want a gap here to accumulate debris that will scratch the laminate when the slide is brought in. Also, it would look pretty tacky without molding or something to give it a finished look.

I've seen that some folks have just left the carpet on the slide areas, but I'd really be interested in knowing how the entire area can be done. Thanks,

I guess what you are wanting to do is possible but should your slide get a little out of adjustment what happens when you don't have a flexible overlap like the carpet presents?

I sort of kicked that idea around too. My concern was the transition from the main floor to the slide floor also. Be interesting to see the ideas come forward on this.

A friend of mine put a laminate floor in his Cougar. It looks really good. I think he posted some pics on rv.net.

Give Al and Nita (TheCoachPotatoes) a PM. Al put laminate flooring in his 3670RL. All through the unit including bedroom.

When you leave the carpet on the slide, the slide lifts up over the laminate when it closes so that it makes a smooth transition over the laminate. Just be sure that there aren't any nails or screws hanging down that would scratch the laminate which is applied so that it is under the slide when open just a little.

Like was stated above send (thecoachpotatoes) a PM. We looked at theirs when we were at the Northeast Rally and it is really nice.
