3400RL New washer drainline

Ok for all of you that have the 3400RL with the washer drain that goes into the black tank I have a fix if you’re ready to drop the panels and fix the problem with the poor engineering design from keystone.

First you will have to cut the drain line as it enters the black tank vent pipe, leaving about an inch on the vent pipe to allow you to glue a dead end cap on it. [8)

Next you will have to cut wood next to drain pipe to allow it to turn far enough to clear vent pipe then using a 45 degree fitting, and straight pipe to a 90 degree fitting with a straight section down through floor to another 90 degree fitting then a straight piece to a 45 degree fitting, then a straight section into a 3 fitting with a end down to a 1.50 fitting.

As you can see there is no insulation in the section where the holding tanks are located, and the heat line into the belly is on the aft side of the tanks.

Beware even after doing this to always open the drain before using the washer, if you don’t it will not be able to vent, and will overflow into the washer and dryer closet!!!

Ok it’s time to have fun, and remember this will make the DW very happy!!!

Great job! What a task but you got it done!

Our 07 drains like how yours is modified. Only problem is we have to be connected to winterize or de-winterize.

Curious on your furnace pipe find - did they actually miss and go outside the frame?

Brad,
It's on the aft side of the black tank blowing any air to the rear of the unit, don't need hot air back there where they have insulation I need it in between the tanks.

Brad...Are you saying you cannot fill the tub with the 12v water pump, you must be connected to city water? I don't think we were 'connected' when I winterized last year....but that was a long time ago.

Bert,

No - I meant the sewer connection. I can't run the washer through a cycle to get antifreeze in or out unless I have the sewer hose connected or it backs up in the waste pipe and I'll get a surprise next time I take the cap off. The winterizing procedure has you let the wash machine drain a little to pump antifreeze into the drain hose.

Brad, add one of those twist-on valves where the cap goes and you will stop that surprise.

I think that would be a good solution Dennis. That way I could winterize - dewinterize here in front of the house.

I have a question, after making these improvements, I'm assuming that the washer drain empties into a gray tank? Which One.

No tank Lance - the modification has it drain directly into the main hard sewer pipe. You have to be connected to a sewer connection to use the washer. The new 3400 is designed like how Oldguard modified his.

Iam going to put a shut off gate valve just prior to where the sewer hose connects like I did my last Monty, so I can shut the valve open the gray and gally leave the black shut and it will back up in both, it also helps boondocking to fill both tanks, last longer between dumps. Just don't do it in the winter I did it froze
