Stabilizers

Just completed installation of the rear arm stabilizers from Plugitright. The task was easy enough to do. We installed the front and then ordered the rear. We got great results for less than $300 for both.

If possible could you post some photos of the finished installation?

Thanks

I would be glad to do that if I had constant access to the internet. I am on a borrowed computer with no way to process my digital pictures. That is one of the problems I haven't worked out.

Let me add to the post above. Last night we had some pretty healthy winds come up. If I had not had my window up by my bed, I would not have known it. We felt no shake at all.

Stiles,

How did the arms attach to the landing gear? Did you have to drill or did they utilize one of the holes in the gear?

Glad to hear that you guys ordered the PLUGITRIGHT package. We have been happy with ours. The couple (Dutch & Di) are great people.

Stiles, have you noticed whether these also eliminate the movement when someone is walking around in the rig? Thanks.

Yes, I drilled into the legs near the base. No, there is still some felt movement in the unit, but much less than before and just occationally is it noticable. I think nothing short of putting the axles up on jack stands would completely stop all movement and even then you have the chassis springs to deal with. The stabilizers made a world of difference.

Brad, I did not drill a new hole just used the existing one made it larger
You can move your pins to the outside...pull landing gear out have holes from side to side.

Whats the difference between the JT and PlugItRight stabilizers? They - at first glance - look almost identical?

Are these used with the front jacks or in place of them?

They are used in place of the front tripod, and attach to the front landing legs. From looking at the installs that I've seen it is avery simple and straight forward install. They in NO WAY take the place of the front landing gear!!!
The rear stabilizers attach to the rear stabilizing arms and reduced some of the forward/aft movement from the rear.
Essentially the stabilizers help complete a triangular configuration between the landing legs and frame at the front, and the rear staiblizer and the frame at the rear. Trianlge in and of themxelves are very strong in all axies. They require only that you tighten the set screws after leveling to make everything stable.
I hope this helpos answer some questions.
You will still get some movement, but not nearly what many, (including myself), are currently geting.

I sent an email to JT Stabilizers to get a price. I can't find the email, but they were in the $485.00 price range. You then have to pay for installation if you're not in a position to do it yourself. They are very nice over there though. One of the owners answered my email, and told me if I had a place in mind to take my Monty to have the work done, they would contact the place and discuss the install with them, and set it all up etc. Very nice people, just a little more than I can handle right now. This would be more of a want than a need at this point. But, if you're interested, they really are nice and accomodating at JT.
