I'm sure someone will come along and discuss the specifics with you soon but I seem to remember someone posting this as a problem.

I tried to get them replaced but Keystone and the dealer turned me down.I put the chrome steel wheels on.

Oh my, how awful for you two. We have Aluminum Wheels and have not had any problem with cracking only pitting.
You might do a search in the archives to find the thread that has been mentioned above.

charstar that was the main reason why our dealer urged us to not invest in the rims during our recent new rig acquisition. He stated that they had experienced several problems and due to the weight of the 5er to not get this option. Sorry for your problems.

I have the Aluminum Wheels on my 3400RL and have not had any trouble with them. I sure do like the way they look. I would try Keystone anyway and see what they say about your wheels cracking. I would not think this is something they would allow for their customers. Good luck.

See if you can determine what the maximum air pressure/weight rating is of those rims. See if they are rated for your circumstances. If they are not rated for your OE tire pressure/load, then you REALLY have a beef. If this checks out, then try dropping a letter to the "Tech Line" section of Trailer Life magazine. It is amazing how high companies will jump if they get a letter from those folks concerning a unhappy customer. Seems they will repeatly ignore your requests for assistance and then miraculously jump through a hoop when their name gets put in the paper. JMHO.

Just to clarify, the wheels are aluminium and not magnesium. Magnesium are only used in applications where weight is a factor such as racing. They are flammable, react violently when burning and water is applied, and did I mention verrrrry expensive. Doubt any mfg installs these on a trailer.

I think Keystone changed the aluminum wheels for 2005. I've ordered them on my new unit so will keep a close eye on them the see if they crack.

One of mine cracked out from the valve stem hole, the other one cracked on the same surface about 8 inches from the hole.
The rims were made by a company named DANDY in CHINA.

I happen to be a Georgia boy and have just returned from a six week
trip out west. The aluminum wheel on the right back cracked on me in the El Paso area. Thank goodness the tire went down on me in the campground. There was a crack about 2" long with pinhole leak. Never seen this before. When i got to Las Vegas found a Montana dealer(Cal's Boat and RV)and through these good people Keystone replaced this rim. There was not even any charge to mount the tire. Then on my return trip on the 4th day of travel in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this happened again on the opposite side on the back. Again the tire went down while i was at a campground. The damage to this rim was idenical to the first 2" crack pinholes. I now waiting to see if this one will be replaced by Keystone through my dealer.I have a 2004 Big Sky 3670 just over one year old and just love it.
