Dicro vs. Silicone Caulk
My 2014 3402RL had the edge along each side of the rubber roof sealed with Silicone caulk at the rail Also along the front and back they used Silicone caulk about 4" to seal the cap over to the side rail. All the stuff on the top was sealed with self-leveling Dicor. On the front and back caps they used Dicor except that 4" as the roof rolls over the side.
I had a leak inside where the carpet at the door side rear window meets the wall. We could not find the leak because we didn't see any water coming in. I got a mobile tech to look at it in Columbia Falls, MT. He showed me how the Silicone caulk just rubbed off by brushing it with his hands. So the bet was the old caulk. So the caulk is 2 and 1/2 years old and already bad.
What the tech said to me was new info. He said the manufactures are bad about not keeping both self leveling and non-self leveling Dicor handy. And sometimes when they should seal the rolling edges of the roof with non-self leveling Dicor they just use Silicone caulk because it's handy and will work for the warranty period. He said the rubber roof manufactures say to only use Dicor and not Silicone. Apparently, the self leveling Dicor would not stay on the rolling edge at the caps.
He stripped all my roof Silicone caulk off and re-caulked with a small bead of Dicor. So far no leaks inside.

What tech said could be true. Could be urban myth if he had no first hand knowledge. A little hard to believe that would be common practice. But glad you got the problem taken care of.

I use dicor, silicon does not work well with rubber roofs.

The tech said he'd been in the RV industry for 14 years and moved to Mobile RV repair company for more money and better working situation. The RV park said they vetted the company and is the only one they recommend. They don't want customers ****** off. They get repeat business.

I ask our RV dealer about silicone he said the Dicor was better but never said why and I didn't bother to ask.

I'm not a chemical engineer, but I believe silicone caulk does not fully "cure" to rubber.
I was told during a seminar, by a service manager, to not use silicone on the roof.

Not surprising that Keystone ignores this.

If you go to Dicor's web site under topic of replacing roof material; Dicor clearly states not to use silicone on EPDM. As stated Keystone uses silicone the length of camper on drip rail and you can rub it off with finger.
