Bubbles in roof
Hey all, my wife and I bought our 2016 Montana 3711FL in June of this year. We have taken three trips and yesterday I was washing the roof with a mild car wash soap and noticed a series of bubbles in the roof, along the edge where the roof meets the rubber molding.it is still under warranty but I would prefer not taking it back to Camping World of Statesville NC because it is two plus hours away. So I would like to either find a closer dealer or since I'm pretty mechanical, fix it myself. So any suggestions on how to fix it,what adhesive, does the molding need to come off or do they just use a needle to inject the adhesive etc. or can someone recommend a Camping world some where between Charlotte and Raleigh? Thanks for the input.

Are they real small bubbles? If so put your finger on the bubble and gently push down. Does the bubble go down or do you feel a staple under the bubble? Staples coming up is a common problem. If you want to fix a staple problem the rain gutter needs to be removed. Not a bad job but time consuming.

If the bubbles are small, I would not worry about it. We have a couple on our 2015. Keystone considers that normal. I repaired a large bubble once, by cutting the length, laying adhesive, weighting down til dry, and covering the cut with eternabond rubber roof tape. By the way, we have bought our last two Montana units, from Statesville, and they have treated us pretty well over the years. Sales folks are tough negotiators, service/warranty work has been great. We have not had a problem with staples.

I am sure more folks will chime in reference roof issues with recent models. Generally speaking I think what you will end up determining from Keystone is that unless the roof is leaking there is not a warranty issue. They told me during that first year that my raised staples and wrinkled roof was normal and would change with weather and humidity. Plus they assured me that the roof was actually warrantied for 7 years so I should not worry......
Good luck my friend.

Yes sir, we had the same question about out 2015 3611RL. Dealer here in Grand Rapids, Mi ( American RV ) checked it out and told me that Keystone considers this normal. How ever I took pics of it and made sure that it was noted on the repair order. That way it can't be said that they didn't know about it. I was told by a rep from Keystone that the only place that the roof is glued is around holes on the roof, like the AC, vents and the like. Sound's screwy to me, but like I said, document it and make sure to get it written on a work order the next time you have it into the dealer.

Thanks 1retired06, the Statesville people were very nice but not very knowledgeable, that was our biggest problem. An example of that was I called and asked what one of the fill ports in the service station was and even sent them pics (no label) and they told me it was the fresh water fill when in fact it is the black water flush. But thanks for the good advice,if Keystone won't fix it I will do it myself. I'm going to find a compatible epoxy and inject it with a needle and roll it our and see how that works because I also found two bubbles on top of one of the slideouts. Thanks again.
