Benson, or maybe Tucson for 1 month holiday stop
Pros and cons of one vs the other?
Places you have stayed that you would avoid or go back to?
Your list of NOT to miss while you stay at Benson, same for Tucson? (Your fav haunts in each area.)
Day trips from Benson could include?

Ya, I know, lot of questions! LOL

Carol,
We've stayed at both Tucson and Benson. In Benson we stayed at the Butterfield ??? RV park. Right behind the Safeway in Benson. Also stayed at a membership park (a friend had the membership) but unless you have a membership you can't stay there. We are Escapee members so we have stayed at the Escapees park. We would stay again at all of the places. But we liked Escapees for the price! All the parks had nice spaces and friendly people.
Tucson we stayed at one of the huge parks just east of town.... CRS prevents me from recalling the name..... It was the park we had a Spring Rally at. Nice park but they may not have openings during winter busy season. We would stay there again. I'll post the name when and if I remember. Someone will come along with the name!

*Tombstone, of course! You got to visit this tourist trap! The west simply would not be the WEST unless you spend some time and money there!
*The Kartchner Caverns are a must see item. You must have reservations for this outstanding feature.
*Then there is the old mining town of Bisbee. Great place to spend a day or so.
*The Biosphere thing. Always interesting.
*Casa Grande has a huge building the natives built hundreds of years ago.
*Tucson usually has a huge flea market.
Also a gigantic minerals show.
*There are at least two Indian Casinos in the area.
*There is a huge air base in Tucson with an outstanding air museum. It is an absolute must see.
*There is a missile display south of Tucson.... I did not visit it but understand it is very good.
*There is also a great Sonoran Desert park that is second to none. You could easily spend a week visiting it over and over. Great place to visit.
**Carol please note that AZ has very strict rules regarding pets in cars! Never leave your pet in the car unattended ---- NEVER. It is a good thing!

See above. Some things are in town others a short drive. Same for Tucson.

Have fun. There is plenty to keep a person busy. Dennis

No memberships, so campgrounds that require same are off our list. Not members of Escapees either. Just tossing that out there for others, cause no matter how nice, they are gonna be real hard for us to use!
Thanks Dennis.

We stayed there, liked it. It's a ways from 'The big city' but nice. Good view of the Prison a mile or so away over in the field...

Benson;
Mt. Charlie (a must see)
Kartchner Caverns (beautiful)
Tombstone
Bisbee
Rattlesnake Crafts
Gammon's Gulch movie set
Chiracahua National Monument (s.of Wilcox beautiful rock formations and many nice hiking trails)
Sandhill Cranes (s. of Wilcox and s. of Tombstone)
Cochise Stronghold
Military museum in Fort Huachuca
Butterfield Rv is nice but kind of noisy, Valley Vista is small but OK, next to it is San Pedro. A very nice park and nice people running it with reasonable rates. I guess the main drawback is benson only has Safeway,Walmart and Ace but you are only 45 min. from shopping in tucson.
Tucson has the plane museum and the Sonoran Desert museum which is very good
The MOC had a spring rally at Voyager there a few years ago and we had a few problems with the staff, but they have new owners and maybe new staff. They are expensive though.
