Crack

we have a 2001 Montana 5th wheel 3250....we have put many miles across the country with no major problems but we do have a crack by the front bedroom slide and it looks like it is getting worse...noticed it shortly after purchase but we bought in Tucson, AZ and we live in upstate NY - no Montana dealer up here. Does anyone know who to contact at Keystone about this problem. thans.

John,

Welcome to the forum. This problem happens to a lot of Montana owners and is usually corrected by an expansion joint. All newer models have an expansion joint below the bedroom slide.

When hooking and unhooking you will be able to see some movement. On my Monty the filon actually seems to give as I hook and unhook. So I will not need the fix.

In some cases it has been reported by forum members that sometimes the aluminum frame near the slide comes loose from the steel frame and has to be repaired. However no pictures have been posted.

Take good pictures of your problem and send them to Keystone and request assistance. In most cases they will either fix the problem or allow you a certain amount to have it fixed. Not sure what there doing at this time.

I had the same problem in my 2001 2955 and the factory covered the correction at a local dealer. just call the factory and send them some email photos. Walter Zahnd

i have the same problem with the crack at the bed room slide.I called Keystone today and they told me it was a stress crack.they knew about this problem but didn`t contact the dealers because it isn`t wide spread.i have a trip planed for the end of August and the guy said I will be fine-to go on the trip. When I get back I will drop it off at the dealers and Keystone will send out some one to correct the problem.he told me it has nothing to do with the frame.A pretty easy fit is what he said.

We had the same problem with ours after 3 years. The dealer contacted Keystone and they repaired it at no cost to us.

My rig developed stress cracks also. I called Keystone and told them when I would be in Goshen and asked them if they could take a look at them. They just finished repairing the cracks. They did some reinforcing (ours is a 2000 3555RL) that corrects the problem and they replaced the entire panel of fiberglass. Did an excellent job at no charge even though our rig is out of warranty.

I called Keystone at 574-535-2100, told them of my concerns and they directed me to the proper people. Lon Nelson is in charge of these types of repairs and is really customer oriented.
