Shade Removal

First broken string on the day/night shades. The repair pictorial is great and will make this much easier. My dilemma is getting the shade our to repair. The shade is on my front small window on my door side living room slide. Keystone said they are screwed into the valance and screws can be seen from the rear of the shade. Not so.. it is not on a clip like my shade in the 1/2 bath. Any help would be much appreciated.

Okay, on our 3800 there are two screws, right of center and far right, that go up into the bottom of the cabinet above. Here is the "gotcha" on ours and probably yours...if you feel up near the blind and in from the left about one inch...there is a screw that is angled in from the right...maybe... I can't even see how one is going to get a square bit into it to remove it. It may be that you remove the two into the cabinet, then try to pry or tear the other free. John

Been several years since I had one off, and only one at that. But I had to remove the valance before I could remove the shade. Removing the valance was no easy task in itself. The screws were hidden up inside the valance going into the woodwork above. Once the valance was off, the shade was no problem.

Like BB_TX mentions, removing the valance is the key and they've done a good job of screwing in the heads of the screws so tight they sink below the fabric face or up under the valance at the wall that you can't see them outright. Use your fingers to feeling around the tops or inside of the valance to find the screw heads. I had as many as 5 or 6 per valance both outside and inside the valance. Then you will need a square bit (I have 3 and it's the middle size one) so I don't know what the size is called. You might try a phillips bit, but it won't work as good as the square bit. You'll probably also need the same size square bit to remove the screws holding the shade to the wall. I've done this a few times on my 9 year old rig and this is what I found.

I'm not sure I've described your configuration but the key is to find where all the screws are located for whatever decorator piece is involved (in my cases it was multiple valances). For example, if the shade in the bedroom ever fails, then I'll have to figure out how to take the dresser apart since it's way more involved.

I just replaced 2 get a 6 or 8 inch flexible extension get the open en one for your square drive small flashlight to see where screws are easy out easy in push valance up and towards you thenre move 2 screws in shade remove bottom side holders 1st

Correct Flexible shaft screw driver is the Key. Like mentioned above once valance is off no problem

Just got done replacing them all at MCD shades. To save money I removed all the old ones. It wasn't easy but doable with a rachet the tech loaned me that turned the bit by turning the handle. Don't know what it's called or where you get one, but worth the money for this job.
