Converter not charging batteries

Used my camper about a month ago all was good. Went to unhook truck over the weekend and found the batteries in the camper dead. Put two new group 27 batteries in. Converter is not charging the batteries. Where do I start?

2019 3855 w/ residential fridge.

Check your battery disconnect switch. Probably in the convenience center. On/Off labeling is confusing. It needs to be in the position where the key will not come out. Once it is set correct you'll probably need a volt/ohm meter to continue trouble shooting.

Before or after what jimcol said, check that the reverse polarity fuses in your panel are good. Hooking up the batteries backward or even touching the positive and negative terminals for a split second can blow them. They should be off to the side of other fuses in the panel.

I think it depends on the type of converter you have. Our converter is separate from the fuse panel. The Reverse Polarity fuses on ours are on the converter which is located behind the wall of the under-storage area.

1. Check the battery disconnect as stated
2. Check the RP fuses as stated
3. Use a volt meter to check the output of the converter...it might be dead

Our converter died this past June. It's likely one of these 3 issues

I thought the Converted had died on our 2010 Money, started trouble shooting by removing the rear bulkhead in the basement to access the converter. Once there found the converter's power plug had worked loose from the outlet. Plugged it back in and used Zip Ties to keep it from happening again and all was well.

In the converter with the reverse polarity fuses in the upper right corner; mine is a 19 3855 with residential fridge. the 2nd from right 12 volt fuse was blown. New fuse and everything went back to working. 12 volt fuses was the last place I looked.

How old is it?
Mine lasted 8 (average 7-8 months/ year usage) years and the manufacturer thought that was longer than normal….

new converter

I had this problem with my Montana. Checked everything, fuses, switches the converter was dead. The placement of the converter was very hard to get to. I disconnected the old one. Cut the Black and red wires and relocated the new converter to a better location. I purchased one from Amazon, Powermax PM4 75A. This has worked great for the last 2 years. I put a small 12V indicator on a plug socket for the aux TV. Charges at 14.2v,drops to 13.1. and maintains my battery. happy with the fix
