New 2015 Washer/Dryer Prep in Wardrobe - Montana Owners Club

Has anyone installed a Washer/Dryer in the new 2015 Models of the Montana's, which they put it in the Wardrobe area?

If so please post pictures, we have a Combo Unit from our old Montana, we are planning to install when ours arrives.

If you will PM me with your e mail I have a power point presentation from Keystone on how to install a Splendede in the front closet.

I have had requests for the power point from Keystone. It is on my computer and I need your e mail so I can attach it to my e mail to you. I can not use the Forum e mail or PM since it is a 3M+ file.

Here is why I ask.

The walls on the end by the washer and dryers are fixed walls. So you have to open your washer or dryer into your cloths you have hanging.

Is this a real inconvenient Montana problem with so many of the models now coming with the washer/dryer prep in the front wardrobe??? It appears they are all designed the same way.

Bozone Engineering ... it is prevalant in the avation industry as well. The term is derived from the question, "where was that bozo from who thought this up"?

John, if you put them there, split, one on each side I guess the laws of Physics will dictate only one way they will go if the prep wiring and plumbing is there. We saw that arrangement at the RV show on some models, not ideal at all.
But, it is a beautiful unit and a clean slate for your planned mods.

Guess I am not up to speed on the latest washer/dryer install locations. My pics and power point are installing a Splendede in the middle of the closet.

It never ceases to amuse me that a company will design a product and never try and actually use it.

We are so happy that we bought our 3610 when we did....that w/d in the closet is a deal breaker.

We saw the new 3610rl model in Quartzsite last week and did not like what we saw....we think the original Montana engineers all left to go work for SOB!

We cannot understand what they are thinking for fulltimers when they tout their rigs as full-time units.

Yes Les and Sue, for the life of us we just cannot understand how Keystone feels they have improved the 3610 model in particular with the 2015 mid year changes. Both of us have the 3610 with the washer/dryer prep and full pantry in the kitchen. To us it's simply a huge step back to move the laundry to the front wardrobe. Like you we would not be buying the 3610 we see today.

If the front wall was on a slider, it wouldn't be so bad, but it is fixed. Here is a picture of the hook ups.

I have a New 2015 3791RD with the Washer n Dryer in the closet. Yes it is not the ideal location i must say. but the luxury of having a seperate washer n dryer is great alot more capacity then a single unit.

Even if doors on washer and dryer were reversed, the problem still exists! Wow that was an interesting idea! Like the new Fifthwheel I saw with the level-up control under the Front of the coach! Think manufacturers!

John & Cindy: If the closet front was on a slider and you faced the washer out rather than into the closet would the washer door not be hitting that seating area or is there enough space for the door to open wide?

Having real trouble understanding just how this IS going to work.

Can you post a picture on how you installed? I am thinking of putting the fixed side panel on a track. I have notice some of the 2015 have drawer in the middle section, and some don't. I hope ours come without the drawer, because it will be in the way to put a track in there for the fixed wall.

Those are good question, but I don't have any answers at this point, we are still waiting for out unit to arrive. The Wash/Dryer door is up 10" from the bottom, but I don't know how high the platform is or the height of the seat.

I also don't know if my unit is coming with draw between the two raised platform or not either. Pictures I have seen online have it both ways. I hope mine comes without the drawer, since it will have be removed to put the track in.

I also may have to redo the seat, and slant the corner to allow the Washer/Dryer Door to open, or maybe the platform can be raised.

This old(er) gal will NOT climb into a closet to do her laundry. My old(er) body does not move that way anymore.

And, thus, CountryGuy and I will not be purchasing a new unit.

And, please do NOT get me started on the darkness of the interiors and the bead board junk (yes, I said that) and Blech to the new curtains too.

All fixable, at some price.

My apologies to those who love the new stuff. It's just some ole ladies opinion, mine.

You may be out of luck. It appears your new configuration requires separate units. Similar to the requirement of a unit with the single mid mount position that would require the combo unit. Those with a separate closet, such as near the entry door, basically require the stacked unit (but might accept a combo, for all I know).

Here's the bottom line....Montana has lost its edge. They are just trying to be like the others. I spoke with our salesman who sold us our present 2015 3610 RL before they butchered it and he said being in the business 30 plus years he has seen it all. He even mentioned it to his Keystone rep and that guy said they see what the SOB'S are doing so they try and stay up with them. That's where Montana has lost its way. Instead of being the leader and trend setter they are just following.

Our salesman said the 3610 RL model before they messed it up was their top selling floor plan last year and they have yet to sell one this year of the new plan.

He felt that the former owners of Montana who now run that Design that is Grand SOB will surpass Montana in the coming years. Maybe that is where all Montana's design engineers went
