Axel Bearings

How often and how many miles do you grease the axel bearings on your monty. I think 2 years and 10K miles would be OK?? Just want to hear
what you guys out there are doing. Also if you have a service center do it how much should it cost??

I am doing ours every 6,000 miles, and have decided to not use the E-Z-Lube feature on the Dexter axles. I pack the bearings by hand, inspect the brakes, and ALWAYS install new seals. If everything is good with the brakes, this doesn't take more than a couple of hours, me doing the work. The seals are about $4 each, and grease isn't too expensive. We have been putting enough miles on the trailer each year so far that I may be doing the bearings a couple times a year. This is cheap maintenance and insurance, keeps bearings in good shape and I can ensure the brakes are in excellent condition.

The EZ lube system works great for me and I do them about every 4000k since 2012 just make sure you turn the wheels slowly as you are pumping the grease in with a HAND pump not Air gun

I put 10,000 miles on our trailer last summer in about a week less than 2 months. I Eazylubed the bearings after the last trip to Lincoln Nebraska at just about 10,000 miles.

Those three trips gave me about 70,000 miles even on the trailer and I have never removed the bearings yet.

The TV has 115,000 on it and still doing well.

We also did our bearing on the 06 3400 every year and never changed the bearings. We had 70K miles or more on it when we traded it.

we do not keep a log of how many miles we have pulled the Montana's but we have put 94K miles combined on the two trucks we pulled the 06 and 13 Montana with. The trucks have been used to pull the Rvs only and at least 80/85% of those miles are with the Montana behind it . When the truck is not hooked up to the Montana it mostly sits . We do drive it to work at Disney on occasion when our schedules do not match up.

Hi

I get paid for over half of my traveling so I keep pretty good track of the mileage we put on the trailer and the TV.

More like 5k miles or annually. Also, I pump slowly.

Those of us that had rear wheel drive cars and trucks in the 70's, we packed the front wheel bearings when we did the brakes on the front axle. Usually around 30K miles. But back then we had bearings from FAG and New Departure, but now our wheel bearings are made in China. I removed the bearings from my 6x10 utility trailer with 3K miles and the grease was black. Was packed with red grease.

So, probably every year is a good time frame with China bearings.
