Lazy Boy furniture

I vaguely remember reading on here about upgrades Keystone was offering on the 2025 Montana's. One was using Lazy Boy furniture. Does anyone on this forum have a model with Lazy Boy, or maybe folks attending the Tampa show or even visited a dealer and seen a model with that furniture? What are your impressions?

Furniture replacement is probably going to be my next major project. I'm curious if they are using pieces from their standard residential line and just putting them in an RV, or if they are custom made for the RV market. I can't seem to find any specifics online.

I have mixed feelings about Lazy Boy; I've enjoyed some of their products, others not so much. I do know that the previous OEM offerings are pretty much junk for both comfort and durability and when you attach a designer's name on it, it becomes even more overpriced junk. The bar is set pretty low, I would think Lazy Boy could only raise it a bit

Howdy Bourbon Country,

We'll be attending the RV and Boat show in Louisville next weekend. We'll see what the Montana's have for furniture and report back.
We'd like to replace sofa in our camper as well. It's in good shape but not very comfortable.

We did not notice it, at least did not notice the individual recliners with that metal thing in between them that is supposed to be a cup holder or whatever. We only went on the new SP model (no recliners) and took a really quick look at the RK. We may have missed it. We saw the lazboy recliners at the rally in September on the models that Tiara had there.

Thanks Scott for inadvertently reminding me of the show in Louisville. I'm about 1.5 hours west and might just attend.

I looked over the show's website and the brands that will be featured and didn't specifically see Montana. One dealer just listed Keystone and when I looked at the dealer's website they are apparently just Alpine. Another dealer listed Arcadia. The Alpine's are considered a premium line like Montana, so they might have the Lazy Boy furniture.

In any case, it would make a good day trip, thanks again.

Looks like Walnut Ridge Family RV in Memphis Indiana will be there. They sale Montana's. We live about an hour North of Louisville.

Can you recommend some good camping spots down your way ?

I'm not sure how long you're staying or what if anything you want to see or do while staying here, but here's my recommendations:

Kentucky Horse Park; big campground, around 300 spaces there are no sewers or cable, they used to have a honey wagon drive around most every day. If you look at the map, see the outer sites on the very outer loop on the right side, they're my favs. Sites 16-26 are mostly on top of a small hill. It's part of state park system and they book through Reserve America.

Cummins Ferry Campground; new and fairly small campground on KY River, some sites back up to the river. They have hiking trails, fishing, and kayak rentals. It's been several years since I've driven that road and as I remember, it's pretty narrow, unless you have a big rig GPS, I would call for best directions rather than trust a standard GPS.

If you want to travel a little further, there is a KOA Holiday, and a Music Valley RV park in Mt Vernon, about an hour south of Lexington. I've never stayed at either of these, but they seem to be popular. Both of these are near the Renfro Valley music center where they have some kind of country music act every weekend seemingly.

I would not care if a name brand is associated with the furniture…the mechanical part always seems to work. Its the quality of the fabric/leather that i would want (in light of the failures of the pleather over the past decade).

We bought a Lazy Boy “theater-seat couch” for the S&B in 2017 for $4k, which at the time was a fortune, but I figured it was a lifetime couch and the last couch we would ever buy because it was a Lazy Boy! Plastic parts on the mechanisms have broken ( I fixed them). The OSB they used for the arm rest boxes will not hold screws so the arm is loose. The brown leather dye has worn WHITE on the main seats. It seems that Lazy Boy AIN’T the same company as when your parents bought their living room furniture in the 60s. I think they get materials from the same Thomas Payne pile of crap that is in the RVs these days.

If you are looking for really nice furniture at a reasonable prices try Amish. We have a little furniture store here that sells Amish furniture for the same price as the big furniture stores junk.

I have 3 lazy boy recliners. Our first one was bought around 1971 and we gave it daughter in 2003!! Still worked but the fabric was worn. I think the key is to get a mechanical recliner mechanism that uses a lever to recline. Lazy boy has lifetime warranty on parts. And I found out they have a outlet store at the repair place in PHoenix. Normally 50-60% off, but they took another 50 percent of that off. So we paid $350 for a new $1300 recliner. Probably they have other outlet stores in big cities, so check it out.

We attended the rv show in Tampa and purchased a new 2025 Montana 3231ck. It has the lazy boy furniture. Two recliners and a sleeper sofa. Seemed more comfortable than our current Thomas Payne junk in our 2020 Montana 3761fl. We take possession sometime early February. Only time will tell if it’s any better.

We bought a used 2016 High Country. We immediately replaced the couch with a Lazy Boy couch. It I over 70 inches and the arms are low to help fit. It is absolutely perfect. When we went to the showroom there was only a sectional type, but we ordered a couch- so ask what is available. We also added a recliner and end table. Very pleased

Lazyboy

We pulled out the Thomas Payne with the plastic still on it and replaced the sofa with a large Lazyboy Power Recliner Rocker that was already 4-years old in the sofa slideout, and put a smaller Lazyboy Power Recliner Rocker where the loveseat was by the kitchen. On move day they are a bit more work, as we have to secure them. We strap a free-standing end table (one with each chair) to the back to stop them from rocking. We strap them to small d-rings we put in the floor. However, the comfort is worth it. We are full-timers, and this is our full-time home.

Win-win. We were able to sell the original furniture for about half price to a young single dad that was fixing up an older camper to live in with his daughter.

Congratulations on your new rig; hope it gives you many years of pleasure. I really appreciate the follow-up on the furniture. Please post your impressions after you've used it some.

Thanks for the heads up. We go to Shipshewana once a year for the flea market and the Amish stores. Didn't know this furniture store was nearby.
We want to replace our sofa in the Monty so we'll check out this store when we head up that way this spring.

Bourbon - one aspect of the Lazy Boy furniture I don’t know how to compare is that the Thomas Payne theater chairs are “wall huggers”. The Lazy Boy easy chair we have at home is NOT a wall hugger. I would have to move the base out away from the wall in order to recline, then move the chair back to the wall for travel. This is mentioned in post #12 above. I have no idea if Lazy Boy makes wall huggers…I have not looked into it. You may want to consider that aspect when you shop. The chair at home is considerably wider than the RV chairs…not sure 2 of them would fit the space in the Monte. Check dimensions on your current chairs and have them handy for comparison.

By the way, when I disassembled our Thomas Payne chairs for placement in the dumpster, we decided to keep the center console. It stands up on its own between our two new swivel rockers we bought at Camping World on clearance ($95 ea)…color match is close enough.

Edit: re: my post #7 above…the 10 yr old leather Lazy Boy easy chair we have at the S&B has been great. The “expensive” 7 yr old Lazy Boy couch has been a big disappointment. The easy chair replaced my father in laws 1976 leather easy chair in 2014, and it was still comfortable and worked perfect everytime.

You can probably find Amish furniture locally. Many small furniture stores have discovered it. We have several here.

I have other restrictions on what chairs I can use. My chairs are in front of the rear window of the rig. The slides come in from each side, so the chairs must fit crossways for the slides to clear. One slide is 33 or 34 inches of clearance and the other maybe 35-36 inches. So I have to slide the chairs and turn them 90 degrees back to back. I strap them together and tie them to the loops in the floor. A pain but I have had to do that for starting 11 years this summer. I am used to it.

I missed the reply above. This is accurate. A little hard to find which driveway to enter the parking lot, tho!!!
