Finding campsites

Finding it very difficult to find sites. We have a free trial w 1000 trails but have not found it to be helpful.
Any recommendations for an app or system for finding availability.

We used to subscribe to 1000 Trails....but let it expire. Finding CGs was very difficult.

I use RV Trip Wizard to plan routes and identify campgrounds. Know what campgrounds are located in the area you plan to stop makes it easy to find availability.

I use a combination of apps including Reserve America (RA Camping), Recreation.gov, KOA, Good Sam and RV Trip Wizard. RV Parky is another I have used some to scout a new area. It may show places the others do not.

With simple internet search just type in "Campground" and the location you are considering, (like... "Louisville, Kentucky), and you'll get a hits. Click on the ones that look interesting and begin reading.

We been using the Good Sam Trip Wizard and are looking at going to RV Trip Wizard since it has more features. Pic shows sample from GS. Clicking on the CGs gives you info about them. I think one or both has a free trial.

If you have a good idea of where you want to stop for the night(s), use google maps and zoom in on that general area a day or two or more in advance. Then in the search bar type rv park. It will show on the map all the RV parks in that area. You can click on each one to get ratings and a usually a link to their web site. Find one that looks to be ok and call and make a reservation. Having a reservation takes all the worry out of arriving and then trying to find a place to stay.

go to campgrounds.rvlife.com
Once I know where I am looking, I use this. IT has user reviews, lists all the amenities at the park and lets you search with restrictions you pick.
As to mapping, I still use a 13 year old program on my computer called trailerlife. I like it because it has maps and everything else on the computer. Problem I have now is the parks list is 13 years old!! LOL
So I put in destinations and let it rip. I then look in the appropriate areas online for a good park.

campgrounds.rvlife.com is the database used by the RV Life RV Trip Wizard app. It is a very complete campground information source.

I looked into the Trip Wizard when it came out. Seems slow, if memory is right. Probably net speed. Also won't work if in the boonies and no i-net. After working on computers for 36 years, strangely I don't like internet programs! LOL

Before the www we use to use this giant campground directory that was the size of the yellow pages. Haven’t found a replacement. We use google maps and will do a search with RV along our route and at destinations.

I think Camping World has a book of campgrounds. But they downsized it by removing a lot of info (like directions/or address) for non-goodsam parks. Not nearly as comprehensive as 8-10 years ago.

We bought that book ten years ago and it wasn’t great. Not worth the $.
