Torque Wrench

Since the purchase of the Montana we have found that we need some things that are not fimilar to us. The one in question this time...Torque Wrench. We know we need to purchase this item, but are not sure of how good of one to get. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thinking Craftsman, but open to ideas, and just how good of one do you get.

I stopped in Arkansas and bought one at a Farm supply store, when we had our TT.

This is one place that I don't feel comfortable buying the cheapest thing around. Buy the Craftsman or another of equal or better quality.

Mine is the same as Norm's, the only use is for Monty, so it is fine for me, somehow seems like I only paid around $15.00 on sale at Harbor Freight. Ironic, just used it this morning, comes in its own little case also. One thing I have learned from this forum is when not in use set it back to zero.

We bought ours at Sears also. It is a cheaper one, but it works well and we have had no problems.

I also have one of the cheaper ones. The torque is a reference point making sure all the lugs are equal pressure and with in the foot pound specification. I do not use this for other things.
Just my opinion.
Good luck.

I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $30. Very good precision tool. You can't go wrong getting it there.

Buy a decent quality torque wrench, every time I buy a cheap tool I eventually regret it. I agree with Bingo about turning it back to zero, I ruined one by not doing that.

Got mine at Menards. Make sure you buy a 1/2" socket for the torque wrench and not a 3/8" with a reducer. Trust me, it'll twist the 3/8 adapter off. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Wally World was where I got mine. Paid around $30, Checked it against a tire garage with a fancy smancy real expensive digital wrench and mine was the same. Torqueing lug nuts is done everytime I move the Monty. Part of my departure checklist. BTW, in about 4k miles since buying new tires, never had a loose nut.......

I keep finding a loose nut behind the wheel of my tow vehicle. Haven't found a wrench yet that will tighten it up!!!!

I got mine at Sears about 10 years ago. At the time it was the best Sears offered. Haven't had a problem at all. Works great and its very readable. It was pricey but it will last... GBY

I got mine at Walmart. I prefer the kind that "click" rather than those with a dial and this one has the click. Just be sure that after you use it you turn it back down to zero to take the pressure off the spring. It tells you that in the manual but it's easy to forget.
