Shade restringing

Hello all,

A long time ago, while we still had our much enjoyed 05 Montana 3670, we posted a series of pictures of re-stringing the day/night shades.

I received a request to re-post them, so here is the link:

I must point out that this was on an 05 model, I don't know if the shades are the same in more recent models.

I will also add that in our present unit, (a 2008 Holiday Rambler MH) we had the same problem, and replaced the shades with double roller blinds. These are working well for us, and would be another alternative to the day/night shades.

Our greetings to any on here who still remember us, Donna and John.

Had to use your photos and thank you for originally posting them. Next time I needed them, they were gone but I found another source to refresh my brain. Boy do I hate the shades, but have not managed to convince the finance officer (wife) that change is needed.

I have restrung countless shades in our previous trailers, so I was so glad our new Monty has roller shades!

I have two broken strings on my shades. I also have a few that are hard to open and close. It seems that the bigger window shades are more difficult to move up and down and maintain even. The right side moves easier than the left or vice versa.
Has anyone installed the knobs in the center? And if so does it help.
What about using a different type of cord? Maybe high strength fishing line instead of a cotton based cord.
This Video was most helpful from youtube.

Any alternatives or suggestions for modifications Knobs or not. I could see where knobs may present a problem near recliners.

Tension seems to be the difficulty with some of the larger shades operating smoothly.

Any advice is greatly appreciated before I attempt to tackle this in the next few weeks.

You need to get the right gauge of string. I found the website Fixmyblinds.com to be very helpful when I was re-stringing blinds.

I'm assuming MCD stands for motorized something something? Can you elaborate and expand on the acronym.
