I bought a used from a dealer 2018 Mony High Country, mfg in October of 2017, for the floor plan. Bunk house for our kids and the grand kids. I bought out of state and the dealer fixed everything that obviously needed fixing before I hauled it home. Fortunately it seems most of the issues have already been fixed, though I still had to make some repairs along the way. Nothing major so so far. I have luckily found a great dealer here in north Ft. Worth area that makes sure things get fixed right and if not, they make it right regardless. The Dealer is probably as important or even more important than the manufacturer. You ultimately buy from the dealer, and that is where your customer service comes from. Unfortunately those good dealers are hard to come by, so researching the dealer is as important as researching the manufacturer. Would I buy another Montana? I guess the answer is….maybe.

There are professional RV inspectors who are very well trained and what to look for and they know what kinds of problems buyers run into. They can inspect a new RV before you close the purchase or they can inspect a used RV before you make the purchase. Or you can make the purchase pending the inspection.
That being said, I purchased a new Montana two years ago and paid top dollar for the legacy. Unfortunately, it is fraught with problems. There are hundreds of small defects and blemishes but the worst of the ones we ran into were: the dining/recliner. Slide sagged in the roof and water puddled on top, this is definitely not good if you want to stay dry, especially when the sweep seal did not even touch the top of the slide. The headboard fell off, I told Keystone by way of email and got no response or offer to help. The rear awning was coming out of its track because it was not installed properly at the factory. The shower leaked into the area below the bathroom floor, resulting in water coming out of the furnace exhaustwhich sits beneath it. The closet track is bowed. So one door is extremely difficult to move. In less than one year of use, the seat heater in one of the recliners failed. The woodwork that covers the ceiling corner LED lights fell off. Other word work came loose and nearly fell off. Compared to previous Montana. The blemishes on this one are exponentially higher. There are many more complaints. I have, but I’ll stop here.

I really want to love my 3790RD but…

I don’t know that I would buy another Montana. It has spent half of its life in the shop. I have not only mechanical items breaking all the time but I have little half walls falling down, and everything seems to be either stapled or screwed into plywood. I’m not sure if any other brands are better, But I would take a very hard look at any brand that seems to have a lot more quality. This poor quality takes the fun out of owning an RV.

Will not

We have our third Monty. 2012&-2016 and now 20213813 MS. Quality of fit and finish has declined with each unit. 2016 had major trim issues and we weee on the third frig when we traded it in. 2021 has a floor plan my wife wanted bad. The air nailer operator(s) did an excellent job of missing every dang staple. 2 jacks failed which were under warranty. Warranty covered it but it took 75!! days at the dealer to take care of it. The primary AC has failed after 2 years. The hinge on the door side basement storage bent…not under warranty. Thought I’d buy a new hinge but Keystone only sells the complete door with a new hinge.
We are old enough that this may be our last RV. I plan to tell the world to stay away from Keystone!!
We did own prior campers and owned a houseboat for 27 years so we are not new to campers.

I have a 2022 3231CK. I love the floor plan but build quality is terrible. It's like every day something just falls off. Once a piece of molding fell off and landed on our chihuahua and almost killed the little dog. The fridge (Norcold 2118) is beautiful but grossly too feeble. The drum brakes were nearly useless so I upgraded to disc brakes. Two slide outs malfunctions destroying the flooring. The list goes on and on and on.

No, if I were to buy again I'd go back to Arctic Fox. I spent over 100k on this and it couldn't be a bigger disappointment. Don't buy Keystone right now.

We started our full time living in 2018 in a Winnebago View 24v towing a Smart car on a trailer.

Other than the Norcold 12v fridge failing (not Winnebago's fault) and adjusting cabinet catches we had zero problems with it the two years and 40,000 mile we owned it.

We currently have a 2011 3150RL, 34' 11". We feel this one is made really well. We also are full-time. I wish Montana offered shorter than their current 36'. Also if I wanted another one I would have to special order as they all seem to come with residential refrigerator. I don't want residential. The technology with the Key TV also sounds iffy to me. So the moral of my story is probably not.

I think we all can agree that all rv's are over priced. I have a 2019 3120rl legacy. Looked at all the new ones in Quartzsite, AZ in January this year. Same model increased almost 50K!!
That's less than 5 years. Even the Class A's and especially the Super C's were poorly made, cheap craftsmanship. Sitting in the Super C was like sitting in a U-Haul truck. My next RV will most likely be used, and pre-2019.

We had a 2002 3295RK that we owned for 13 years and would have kept it for many more years but we decided to buy our last 5th wheel. We were going to go with a Montana but the later years have had so much trouble with the frame we decided to go with a higher quality unit. So when we were at the Tampa show in 2019 we were able to see a Luxe model in person. With luck they had the model we were interested in a the show. We put money down on a 2022 38GFB to get a spot on the assembly line as they had a 6 month delivery time. That was the best decision we have made in a long time. I feel Montana has big issues with the frames along with other things that need addressing. We still travel to see friends we have made with this group and will from many years to come.
Everyone should venture out to the get together in Quartzsite in January and we would love to meet some new friends at the rally in Camp Verde AZ in the spring.

2019 3811ms

Our 2019 had been a good unit for the most part. We have had several different types of rv’s over the years and the quality of our cabinets , love seat & sofa in this is quite bad. All new furniture has helped but we just live with the cabinets since there’s not much we can do about them.
My biggest issue is with the dealer. I took it in for repairs and they only fixed part of the issues. Still had blue tape we put on to show where they needed to work on. After the several months that they kept our rig we were just wanting to use it so have never taken it back for anything. I fix what I can and keep going. The dealer has one great service/ parts guy that has been a big help. Friends have helped with upgrading the Solar so we can keep up with the energy usage of the residential refrigerator.
To answer the question, yes I would buy another Montana. I would however as advised, I would not sign until everything is fixed so it doesn’t sit at the dealer eating up the warranty. The floor plan is what sold us so we are good with what we have.

We have a 2021 CK…love it. We have had small issues but thankfully nothing major yet. We have owned a Big Horn and two Landmarks both of which were a headache. We would buy another Montana. A lot depends on finding a good service department or learn to repair yourself. After all you are dragging a house down the highway.

I sold my 1969 Airstream after 30 years of ownership when I bought my 2019 Montana. Honestly, I have had far more problems with the new RV in the past 4+ years than I did in 30 years with the old one. Keystone support has been pretty good though, you need to be patient and persistent.
When considering a new RV, I have no brand loyalty, but would not exclude Montana from consideration. It would depend on features, availability, "apparent" build quality of the actual unit we are looking at, and cost.

I had a 2006, which I liked bery much. It seemed like a good quality well built unit, but I am not impressed with the newer ones I have seen.

Absolutely

I purchased a new Montana Legacy about two years ago. It has been over the road about 1300 miles. First I discovered that the recliner dinette slide roof was slagging and water was standing on the top of it. Additionally, the seal did not even touch the slide. then we had water running out of the hot water heater after every use of the bathroom shower. The headboard fell off while we were asleep. One of the dinette shares collapsed when my wife was sitting at it at a family function -she weighs 160. The entry door frame rubs the door, because the screws were overtightened on the door frame, and it would not close tight. Insects came in air-conditioning and heat were not helped at all. The shower skylight was broken because all four screws were overtightened. The list is much much longer and so frustrating. I’ve had to start taking my anger management pills again.
