Bruno Mars or Venus or Pluto

I have finally reached the conclusion that even though I am only maintaining the age of 29 that I must be falling behind the times. I have no clue what is being presented at halftime of the super bowl and have no clue as to who the "entertainer" is??? Hopefully the second half will be better than the half-time show..........

So, in continuing the clue-less DH episode, DW now tells me that she knows one of the songs by Bruno since evidently she has been exposed to it through the alien culture called........daughters. Now, I have confirmation that I am truly behind the times.

Thought it couldn't get any worse after the halftime show. Just shows you what I know.

About 5 minutes into the halftime show we turned it to another channel. Just could not stand it. Watched that until we thought halftime would be over. Turned back to the game. Wish we hadn't. Better than whatever that was for the halftime show, but not much.

Look at the good things coming out of it. Another one of the biggest routs in SuperBowl history (but not the worst), Pete Carroll is now one of THREE coaches to win the NFL and NCAA championships (along with Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson). It was an awful game to watch right from the first snap that was a safety in Seattle's favor, and then it went downhill from there. I felt bad for Peyton Manning and his alleged non-legacy and for his brother Eli, who watched the slaughter from a luxury box in his home stadium and John Elway who looked like he wanted to go down there and suit up (well, the way Seattle was playing, maybe not).

Is it me or does anyone else wish they'd just get rid of the halftime show and just show highlights of the past NFL season. And I not only know who Bruno Mars is, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers and neither belong on a football field when a game is actually being played, any more than Beyonce, Madonna, or even Paul McCartney from past shows. In fact, the only show that was potentially entertaining was the Janet Jackson fiasco.

Well, it's in the history books now and I'm happy for the city of Seattle that they have their first NFL championship to celebrate.

They stopped making music after the 70s? That's what I tell my son.

Bruce Springsteen already performed in at the SuperBowl in 2009. I'm getting too old to know about these newer performers so during the half we had homemade chili and Marie Callendar's corn bread. It did Bruno Mars good to perform to gain exposure for himself and he was pretty good. I don't know his music, but every year I am having less and less tolerance starting with Prince and Beyonce, and now Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili who?

There were a couple of really good commercials, though.

I thought the the halftime show was going very nicely, until the RHCP's showed up with no shirts and "Give it Away".

In fact I thought it was one of the better shows(not counting the RHCP's, ...at least their appearance was short) in the history of such entertainment.

Bruno Mars did a great job, I liked the James Brown segment in particular, the sound was very good considering the venue,

....and, oh yeah, sea-HAWKS!

FLASH:
Did you see where Houston-based Gallery Furniture lost $7 million on a promotion that promised to give customers who shopped at his stores their money back if the Seattle Seahawks won Sunday.

Anyone who spent more than $6,000 and had their furniture delivered by kickoff Sunday would get a full refund if Seattle won. Roughly 1,000 people bought enough to be eligible for the promotion with an average bill of $7,000, and McIngvale said one customer will get $30,000 back as a result of his big purchase.

I guess maybe he figured it would be cheaper than buying advertising spots during the game???? Who knows!

If you get annoyed by performers at the Super Bowl, its usually because they perform in a style and attitude that doesn't fit your taste. Just always remember the one 'performer?' that blew it the best, fitting no-ones taste. And bordering on criminal desecration of AMERICA!
