Window Over Bed In 3500RL

Hi everyone. Read often but don't talk much. I will be putting a window in the bathroom (like ozz) of our 3500RL and was wondering if anyone has installed a window over the bed (in the slide out). I would ask keystone but their answer to anything is always NO!

I have actually seen the window over the bedroom slide, but I've never seen one over the bed.

I'm not surprised Keystone says NO to those kind of questions. Thats a pretty severe structural modification to just blindly say yes to over the phone without some engineering calculations and mock-up work .

I've asked Keystone about many upgrades (roof satelite dish, solar panels, reciever hitch, and other general questions) they have never said yes to anything. So I did them anyway.

Our mountaineer has a window over the head of the bed--it gets cold on your pillow and head when it is cold outside--even with the day night shades down. the only advantage is there is good cross ventilation when the windows are open.

Thanks for the info. We live on Long Island and mainly dry camp on the ocean. It's usually comfortable but sometimes it can be bad. I called Keystone and finally talked to a decent Tec. He said it was ok for the window in the bathroom but not over the bed. Guess I'll just have to buy another fan.

jwedell, I like your attitude. The camper is yours to do with what you want. I assume you own it and are not renting. Aside from warranty issues and safety issues, a person should be able to do what they want with their rigs. GO FO IT!!!!!

I guess I'm confused -

Since the day I have brought mine home from the Dealer, I have cut holes in the roof, cut holes in the side, re-wired it, and even drilled holes in the frame, and not once did I feel compelled to call Keystone for advice or assistance.

I still don't understand why you feel the need to call Keystone other than to get tech advice. The canned answer they have to give you is no, but who cares?

I was really more concerned about the warrantee issues, but now that the warrantee is over it's no holds barred. I'm reading what everyone else has done and have gotten some very good ideas.

jwedell, I am also living on LI and I have exactly same trailer like yours. We also are camping on the beach and we never felt like we need
additional window in the bedroom. I love the cross ventilation through the small windows on each side of the bed. As for bath window I think
this is a great idea. Keep us posted on progress.

Will do Jerzy54. Maybe we'll see you at Cupsogue Beach or Indian Island.

My beach destinations are Shinneckock, Shagwong and Hither Hills. I have to try Indian Island sometime this year.

Jerzy54, All the campsites with water and electric are booked past labor day. By any chance did you book the Kick Off at Cathedral Pines in Yaphank.

jwedell, Cathedral Pines is about 6 miles from my home, but with my busy work schedule is very hard to reserve anything in advance.

Jerzy54, You think it gets easier as you get older but it don't. Just have fun when you can.

I guess it's a cabin fever talking. I can't wait to go to the beach and fish.

I know what you mean. I've been to the Nassau RV Show and Sunday I'm driving to Camping World just to get my fix.

Closest one is Lakewood New Jersey. About 2 1/2 hours. Not really a bad trip.

In this case I rather buy stuff on line. It will be much cheaper then paying for gas back and forth.

On line is the way to go. Actually we by from Eddie's RV. We usually get 10% off. Also West Marine is pretty good for some electricial items.
