disk brakes

I am wanting to replace my brakes on 2019 3720RL with disk brakes. We had planed to get Morryde to get it installed during the convention but heath problems caused us not to be able to go . I am trying to find a good service place in the south that some one has used that I could get to do this job. We live in Charlotte NC . Any info would help Thanks Jerome & Judy.

Jerome, I am getting ready to do mine myself, so I have researched it intently. It is really a straightforward installation that doesn't take a great deal of skill to accomplish. That being said, it is a safety item so you don't just want some ole hack doing it. You could buy the kit from one of the vendors (I found the best price at stopyourtrailer.com) and check with a local brake shop to see if they would handle the installation. I would choose a brake shop over a RV shop, as they specialize in brakes and their labor rate is probably much lower. The biggest problem I see with the kits is that they try to be a one size fits all as far as the brake lines are concerned. A brake shop would have the ability to cut, flare, and bend the lines for a cleaner look. The only issue they might have, other than having to work outside, is with the electrics, but that also is pretty straightforward. Also there is one company that will come to your trailer and do the work wherever you are at, but I bet that's pretty expensive. I hope we are both as happy as others say we will be!

We had discs installed at the Coos Bay, OR rally in June. Went through Performance Trailer Braking, and they have installers all over the country. They are very knowledgeable and get you set up with all the proper parts and kits. https://performancetrailerbraking.com

As far as brake lines go, it looks like all the kits use basically the same stuff. A long main line that comes in a coil which you have to bend to fit yourself, and some shorter hard and soft lines to go across the axles and to the calipers. A pro could bend and shape the lines much prettier than most of us could, but as long as you don't get any kinks it should work just as good. The long coiled main line in the kits is probably going to be to long, so you need to either cut it and reflare it or snake it around so as to use up some of the excess length.

I did it myself as well to another SOB.. To me the hardest was the brake lines. I ended up taking measurement and taking the brake lines to a radiator shop and they did a great job bending and flaring the lines for me. I will be doing it again to my new to me Montana.

I'd start by calling the RV service centers around your location if you aren't going to do it yourself. Good luck
Question on MorRyde. I thought they only did the I/S system not just the disc brakes.

Are you talking about the I/S system or just disc brakes?

You can also scheudle another appointment in Goshen....only a 10 hour run up there. :-)

What is I/S system? We are new to this and learning as we go. One more question we were also planning to carry our suspension to a 8K by Morryde. We are not full timers and probably will only travel 6 to 8 weeks a year unless things change so we can do more. Thanks for all your help and information to all those who have responded. We are weary travelers. Jerome & Judy

The IS is independent suspension form Mor Ryde. They will do just disc brakes if that's what you want. The previous owner of our rig did just that in 9/2013 at a cost of $2570 installed. I'm sure its more now.

Our unit is going to Mor Ryde in June to get the IS installed, (transferring the disc brakes over to the new IS system). They are also installing new USA made Timken bearings and installing a new shear spring and puck glides in the hitch.

Total cost is between $4500 & $5200 depending on 7 or 8k IS

I ordered my disc brakes from Performance and did the conversion and the 8k axle upgrade myself. Not hard to do at all. Then we did Jerry and Laura Thorsell's at the rally.
