Low speed vibration RAM 3500
When the truck got to between 5 and 15 MPH it started shaking bad. I was in a parking lot and got out to check the tires thinking I might have a rear inside tire flat, nothing looked out of the ordinary. I drove off, very bad vibration at 5-10 mph, smooth as always when over 20 MPH. I checked the Dodge forum and the same symptoms were described for bad drive shaft bearing. Since these bearings are grease-less (no grease fitting) they lasted 50K. I am going to replace all three bearings with ones with grease fittings.
Others confirmed these symptoms.

Your right it could be the carrier bearing( if you have a two piece drive shaft) or the u-joints, best to replace them all.

Hi John, I had my carrier bearing go on my truck...had to convince the mechanic that it was bad. Symptom was I could feel the vibration at a certain speed and felt it in my butt, not sensitive to turning gyro pressures nor braking application, just purely a speed point harmonic...some temperature influence tho as warmer days made it non-existant.
If u-joints the test is typically to switch between forward or reverse and attempt to "feel" for a thump in the undercarriage as you flop the driveline back and forth. Its a bit tricky to determine normal gear lash from failing u-joints and can be subjective but training yourself to do this is possible. Good luck.

In the old days, doing the back and forth you could hear an audible click in the u-joints when they were shot. I don't know if today's bearings react the same way or not.

Trust me it is the u joints.Put three new in mine befor leaving on vacation there was nothing but dust in the caps.Dealer replaced carrier bearing still had the shudder at takeoff.

Replace the three before the NE Rally. Found on dry cap. Had to use the Dodge U Joints. They are priced as if they are made of gold. lol. Napa U joints would not fit and I did not have time to work on a second replacement set from Napa.
I did not replace the carrier bearing because it was not available. I will be listening and watching it.

I have to ask, is someone mistaking a "mid-ship" bearing for the "carrier" or "pinion" bearings? The pinion bearings are right behind the yoke on the front and ahead of the ring gear in the axle. The carrier bearings are inside the housing on either side of the ring gear. Mid-ship bearing is generally half-way between tranny and axle. I've not heard of carrier bearings going bad. I can also relate an experience of mine with an '01 Dodge/Cummins. I bought the truck used in '03. It had 17,000 miles on it and the dealer in Oak Park, MI where I bought it had just serviced the limited slip rear end. After about 7 or 8,000 miles I was getting a rear-end chatter when accellerating(sic) around a hard right or left turn. Turns out they hadn't put the 'friction modifier' in it. Adding that cured the chatter.
I now have an '05. I had the rear end serviced on it earlier this year and they did put the friction modifier in it. Unfortunately, the book says not to use friction modifier in limited slip axles on 2500 & 3500 Dodges from '03, '04, '05, '06, & '07. It seems they use a "...helical gear/pinion gear/pinion brake shoe arrangement..." to achieve the limited slip and addition of friction modifier defeats it.
The only approved lubricant is: Mopar SAE 75W-90 (GL-5)synthetic lubricant/ 05102232AA
Steve R.: They don't call the sheet I mentioned on another thread a "service bulletin". They call it a "Solution". Tell your dealer to pull up "Solution Number 999926279" and it will give the particulars on the American Axles (manufacturer).
