Wood Grilled Shrimp

4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
2 pounds large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined

Combine all ingredients expect shrimp in a shallow dish; mix well.
Add shrimp, tossing gently to coat, Cover and marinate shrimp 2 to
3 hours in refrigerator, stirring occasionally
I have not let them marinate over night yet.. but going to give it a try.
Remove shrimp from marinade, reserving marinade. Place shrimp on
skewers. Grill over medium-hot coals 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
basting frequently with marinade.
I usually put a couple of small pieces of Mesquite or Oak on the
coals before putting the shrimp on..
Be careful when basting because the oil will make lots of flames..
ending up with burnt shrimp.. The tails will burn the most..

I do a great deal of the cooking over the fire, including breakfast. Nearly all our meals are cooked over the fire when camping. Nothing better than the smell of fried taters and bacon drifting through the campground in the morning. I once had a lady ask me where I learned to cook over a fire. I was kind of tongue tied for an answer. Isn't it just trial and error. Beth does the baking though. The smell of fresh baked cinnamon rolls in the oven rates up there with taters and bacon. Can't compare the two, she steals my cast iron skillet to bake them in.

I have done all the cooking since I got out of college. I love to cook. I will do laundry also if someone separates it out. I am color blind so sometimes it is a little sketchy.
Cooking relaxes me.

We split the cooking, but I do the laundry.

I do all the cooking. Was part of the "deal" I made with Carol when I became disabled. I must be a pretty good cook as we've both put on a lot of weight in the last 16 years I've been disabled. I prefer to cook outside, but I cook a lot inside as well. I like to experiment with a lot of foods, but sometimes, I'll get a wild hair and just start throwing stuff in a pot. Some of my best meals have been those pot luck deals. I just can never seem to replicate any of them.

I do most of the cooking when we are camping and 90% of that is done outside either in a Dutch oven or on our Campchief outdoor propane oven/2 burner cooktop.
I also teach Dutch oven cooking.

Outside me, inside Louise. I enjoy cooking but Louise enjoys it more. I have a few inside dishes that she likes so gives in when the mood hits her.

DW is a very good cook but she eats to live. I live to eat, I enjoy doing most of the cooking, and I really like to bake also.
