Balloon Festival 2020

We are interested in attending the 2020 balloon festival in Albuquerque, NM. Does anyone know of any groups offering a trip or anyone interested in getting a group together?

Escapee's and FMCA both have groups going. You need to keep on top of it and register as soon as they take them because spots fill up fast. It's a very popular thing.

I was gonna say, if you don’t already have your reservations, it may be too late for this year.

Yall go to that Dick?

We may look at it next year. Already have plans this year. Although it is easier for us to just do a motel. Maybe even at Roswell

You bet! If you haven't gone it's a must see. Many more shapes and sizes than you see anywhere and the dawn launch is amazing.

My friend that lives local said it takes them 2 1/2 hours to drive in locally - they only go occasionally since they need to leave the house at 4A

Stay in the campground across the street from the Festival. You can then walk to the field or ride the shuttle buses. You can see the balloons from your camper.
We did that last year and had a great time.

Fantasy offers tours for the balloon festival. They may be full for 2020. Call them.

groups are fine but some cost. research on where you want to be, either side of the main road is fine.

just do it. it gets cool/cold in the early mornings but I would never want to miss it.

enjoy.

Can't remember, but you can go to the website for the festival.
It's not a campground it's a large field.
There is no hookups. It's all dry camping.

There are section with water and 30 amp power, but they are for the Tour Groups like Fantasy, Winnebago, Adventure, etc., if you're not with one of them you will be dry camping.
A great experience not to be missed.

mhs is in error, you don't have to be with a 'group' to get some services. we went there on our own and had at least electric...can't remember about water. anyway, i am sure these get filled quickly.

enjoy the time.

Expect the dust and dirt to be...well very much in your face. Balloon Fiesta from 1976 through 1997 gave me loads of memories. One year I may think about attending another, but with the closed roads and major traffic on others, I may just get a room in the Sandia casino hotel and view from there.

We go to that balloon festival every year since 1985. I am a freelance photographer and I get in on press passes where we can go everywhere we want to go. That being said I own 25 acres lot with in a 20 minute drive from the fairgrounds. no electric or water hook up but lots of trees. We go with 3 trailers and a gen set on its own trailer for electric hook up for all that stay with us. We have it made in the shade LOL

We went in 2017 No reservations. Got a full hookup 50 Amp site at the Casino just west of Albuquerque. Very nice campground and reasonably priced as I remember. One evening they served hamburgers, hotdogs, several salads and soft drinks for free. A balloonist inflated their balloon in the campground just before dark. It was tethered and lit up after dark. Not really a long drive to the grounds.

Wear warm clothes if you go at dawn. It was about 40 degrees at 5:00 am. Very interesting experience.
