North Carolina - Smokey Mountain National Park
Hello all,
We've been fulltiming for one full week - Left Colquitt, GA this morning and are currently in Cleveland, GA. Tomorrow we head for Smokey Mountain National Park (North Carolina) on our way back to Virginia while we await the birth of our Grandson.
Any suggestions for a good place to stay while we visit the park?
thanks in advance for your help.

Jo-Anna - This spring we stayed at Pride RV Resort in Waynesville, NC (Maggie Valley) and really liked it. It is a membership park and is next door to another nice one, Creekwood Farm RV Park, which is a Passport America park. Ask Tom41 where to eat. He kept us fat, happy and sassy with his suggestions.

If you want to stay north of Asheville, we stayed 9 miles north of Spruce Pine, NC at the Buck Hill Campground - $25 a night. We really enjoyed it there. Also we were told later that there was a campground just a mile south that we were told was only $11 a night - it was the Secluded Valley Campground.

We haven't stayed in Cherokee but saw several parks there. We were on the TN side of the park, in Gatlinburg. If you're inclined to go to that side of the park, Twin Creek RV Park in Gatlinburg is one of our favorites. Not cheap though. Yes, you can tow your Montana across to Gatlinburg from Cherokee. Sorry I can't help more on the NC side. Cherokee is a neat town.

Thanks for all of your comments.
We arrived yesterday at the Happy Holiday RV Park on the Cherokee Reservation in Cherokee, NC. Nice park.
We spend yesterday afternoon and all day today in the park. We even saw (and photographed) a bear in the park.
We are 10 days into our "Great Adventure" and are truly very happy campers.
Tomorrow we head out to Manassas VA where we hopefully will have some warranty work completed on the Big Sky while we visit with some friends. Then off to Maryland while we await the birth of David's first grandchild.
