She did it her way

Last night my Mother slipped away from us to join her Mom and Pop in a much better place. After 2 1/2 years of suffering with Alzheimers she is now her old self.
I was sitting with her (we knew it was time) and had to leave the nursing home for a few minutes. That is when she passed. She always said she didn't want anyone staring at her when she died. Well, she must have, in her own way, sensed I left. Her suffering and our watching her suffer is over.

Carol,
My prayers for your comfort. I had the same feeling when my Mom passed and although I miss her terribly, I know she is happy and no longer suffering.
Happy trails.....................

Glenn..We understand,,My Father passed away 2 years ago.He also had Alzheimer's.Yes she is in a much better place.Alzheimer's is a cruel disease. It robs you of your dignity, then kills you.It took 8 years . He was my best Bud.Helen and I were visiting and although he had not recognized us for a very long time and He looked at us and said that he was having a lot of visitors..we asked who,,,he said his Mother and Brother had been there and had just left but said they would be back because they were all going on a trip....they of course had both been gone for many, many years. They returned the next morning and he went with them..Your Mom is doing just fine.

Take comfort in the fact that she is with her maker and always cherish the fond memories you have of her.

It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life. Take comfort--those who live will be reunited in eternity. Hold on to your memories, and let them guide you during this time of sadness and take heart. Time will soften the edges and ease your burden.
