Greetings from Lexington, at the Horse Park

Greetings from Lexington, KY. We are staying at the Kentucky Horse Park. Beautiful park and wonderful shady site. Spent last night in Hayti, MO at the KOA. Will be here through tomorrow night, then on up to Michigan.

Just to say hello from the road.

Hey, Padre, I'm glad to hear you got into that park. I've heard lots of good things about it and it has been recommended to us several times. We arrived in the area three different times but each time the park was already full. Some horse thing going on, I think. One of these days we'll get in there. I hope you folks are enjoying your trip.

KHP is one of our favourites too. It does have this peculiar reservation policy that allows groups of 20+ to make reservations, but not individuals. As a result, it gets full with reservations when there are big horse events going on. Even if you are there on a site, you can get bumped off by a group reservation. Call ahead, and they can tell you when it is likely to be busy. It is worth the hassle. (No sewer sites though, and only 30 amp power)

Thanks for the responses to my greeting. This is the first time we have had the opportunity to get back online. I should entitle this message "On Cloud 9 at last". Actually, this is the "Cloud 9 RV Park" near Hot Springs, Arkansas. We drove 500 miles to get here tonight (from Casey, Illinois).

The "Horse Park" was nearly full, but they allowed us to drive through and find our own site.

We were just barely in Michigan at all: Temperance just north of Toledo. We stayed there at the Covered Wagon RV Park which was near to our friend with whom we visited.

On this trip we traveled through Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, then back through Missouri and Arkansas were we are tonight.

We stopped by Goshen, Indiana to have a "TrailAir" hitch installed on our Montana. We were met by owner Dale (?) and the hitch was on before lunch. That was on Monday.

We could have made it on home tonight but decided after 500 miles it would be better to sleep on Cloud 9 and get some rest. We will be home before noon tomorrow.

Carol, your report makes me very unhappy with myself. After all I was willing to drive 500 miles in Texas to meet you folks at the Winter Texans gathering last winter. I had no idea we were this close to you. Still, I could have found out. Part of the problem was that we were not able to get online while we were in that area, so I was not on the forum. Maybe you can stop by our place on the way to the Valley.

No problem David,

It is hard to remember where everyone is "from". I'll remember your invite, and hope that you will think about a possible visit to the Valley next winter, where we hope to have a MOC meeting every month!

Cheers, have a safe ride the rest of the way back to Texas!

David, Sounds like you are having another good, but marathon trip! Hope the trip leaves you on Cloud nine even when you return to your “old Texas home!” Be safe on the roads!
