Gun Lake

We had a wonderful visit yesterday with "CountryGuy" Al & Carol. They were on vacation at Gun Lake for a few days. We rode around the lake on their pontoon boat, saw the beautiful sights and enjoyed the wonderful weather. The "kids"even seem to enjoy seeing us again.HAHA
So now I guess we will head west and see some of this other wonderful country. Marge

And, we were so happy that John and Marge could take a day to run over and see us! It was our pleasure to take em for a ride round that small 2000 plus acre lake!

Thanks John for the assistance, you know what I mean!

Carol

Yankee Springs Recreation Area, west of Hastings on M 179, east of 131, near Wayland Michigan, Gun Lake Campground.

Reservations are kinda hard to get here, at least for those prized channel lots. We usually start 6 months before arrival date, and if you are 5 minutes late on the phone or web site, there will be no channel lot for you that day. But, there are a number of other lots that are quite nice. Use the online reservation and check out the lot sizes. I think Al told me if you use anything longer than 34 or 35 feet, you will not find a lot at all. But, there are a bunch of us in here that are longer than that.

This is a state park, and the services here are 30 amps, no water, dump station. Shower houses are rather new (2 years??) On hot and humid days they have been known to have power problems, we don't leave the dogs in Tana on those days.

It is a beautiful area, by August, if we have normal summer weather for the area, you will find the shallow waters of the over 2000 acre lake pretty comfy for swimming, but those areas that are 25 to 80 feet deep will still be refreshingly cool.

We hope to be back here bout mid to late August for another 2 weeks.
