Hi Bob, glad you jumped in here.
You will not have a furnace filter unless someone added one, it's pretty easy to stick one in there.
I haven't looked at the furnace fan wiring yet in detail, but I imagine we will have to use a switch on the contacts for the fan, keeping in mind not to 'backfeed' the power to the gas valve. It may require an additional relay. I peeked into the compartment one day, and I think all contacts are on the little circuit board.
A person will have to use care wiring to the circuit board, doesn't take much to mess one up. (Not a technical term, I realize, but it works)
The furnace is energized by a two wire feed, the fan comes on, the furnace follows, after time delay and proving of safety's. I'll just have to look into it when the wind and drizzle subsides.
You can always energize the rooftop unit in a low fan speed only, if you can stand the noise. That may help, also, as Steve and Rich, (and others) do, crack a roof vent a little.
