Landing Gear Not Working
Went to put the landing gear down at the end of the days travel and it went down about 2 inches and then quit. The motor was working fine and then stopped.
Is there a fuse somewhere in the line that could have blown?
Would appreciate any help.

That happened with ours and it turned out that one side was broke. Fortunately it was covered by our extended warranty. I don't know if there is a fuse, but seems there should be one. Wish I could be more help.

Yes there is a fuse. Finding it is not always easy as there are a lot of places to hide it. It is either a 30 or 40 amp and it will be near the motor.

Might as well keep a few there handy, 30 amp. automotive two blade type, they do blow on occasion, mostly as jerrybb states; operator error.

My fuse goes the instant I hit the top of the cycle when extending the landing gear. I try my best to stop before that but not always successful.

Paint a line around the top of the tube, stop there. I have a section painted black I look for, when raising them.

Same thing happened to me last week. On the 3400 there is an in-line fuse near the motor, easy to find. However, mine is a 40 amp and they are not so easy to find. When you do find them, better get several extra.

Mine is a 40 amp also. You need to go to an auto parts store and buy a box of 40 amps. I just went through 2 of them trying to level on a steep slope.

What do you think the proper (stock) size fuse is I am sure mine was a 30 amp. And yes, I have blown one too.

Ditto Ozz, 30 amp, replacement interval, averaging two months currently (OOOOPS!!). Average will improve since Monty will be in mini-storage all winter (Other than the much anticipated Topsail trip for Thanksgiving).

I am curious as to the discrepancy between the 30 amp and the 40 amp OEM? Bingo, you have the exact same unit, but we have different fuses. Mine says "40 amp" right on the fuse holder...

Dave, check the nameplate on the motor, it should have the amps draw for it there. (The fuse holder may accomodate both a 30 and 40 amp fuse, but the load may dictate a 30 amp, I'm not sure.)
And, someone clamp an ammeter on the power wire and run the slides out. I haven't had time yet, busy, busy.

While we are talking about landing gears, does anyone know about any maintenance that can be done on this most important part of the Montana? I take it for granted that it will always be there for me when I need it. I have looked through all the information that came with the Monty and found nothing specific.
Thanks

Bob, I just read a post where there is a plastic shield cover on the upper part of each leg. Apparently a real knuckle buster getting it off, but the poster said that you can then lube the gears.
Ozz, I believe if I tried to get away with running 30 amp fuses in there, I would need a bucket full of them in reserve. Last year at our Rally, MIMF showed us how he had re-wired his Challenger for a 70 amp fuse in that spot, just because of all the problems that he and other MOCers were having blowing those OEM fuses. I would also be curious as to an ammeter reading from someone. I don't have one.
