AC switch not working

Has anyone here had a problem with their AC switch? We're in sunny Sanibel Island in FL and we were running the AC. When I went to shut it off, no go. Just stays on, even if I try to put the switch in the heating position. The only way I can shut it off is to throw the breaker.

Pull the thermostat, unplug the wires, then plug them back in. You have A/C power and Heating power to it, unpluging it may reset the electronics. Could also be a stuck relay, but at least try the unplug.

Thats known as a power reset - fixes more faults than you can imagine.
