HELP! Front Landing Legs Trouble

My husband and I just came back from our first major trip in our 5th wheel. On Saturday as we were getting ready to hitch the trailer to our truck the switch for the front landing legs did not work. We looked at everything he could think of even checking the fuses and no go. He ended up cracking up it up by hand and that was quite a job.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong??

It is a 2007 and has only been used 3 times before our two weeks trip.

Thanks !

Might want to take the cover off the switch and see if one of the wires has come disconnected while in flight (so to speak). If the fuses are good I have no other suggestions! I'm not sure if the landing gear is on a separate breaker or not also. Might want to check breakers or fuses on the main panel also! I'm sure there will be some others coming on board here to have you check other things!

Did you check the fuse in the battery compartment, it is a common failure fuse (30 or 40 amp depending on the installers mood at the time). It is an in-line blade type fuse that is easy to miss.

My husband just went out and checked the battery compartment and the fuse was blown.

We are going to make sure we carry a supply of fuses with us next time

Thanks so much!!

Bingo
Bingo,
Ours is an in-line cartridge fuse.

Orv,
I was going on the assumption that it would have been a similar fuse since their model year was the same as ours (2007). Nonetheless, the type of fuse is worth knowing depending on what year the rig is, as well as knowing to look for any type that may be installed. Exactly why follow up and other input is important, so all of us (particularly myself) are aware that there are differences. Thanks for expanding my knowledge once again,
Bingo

Bingo,
I was just pointing what mine had. My unit is eight years old but I think Keystone used whatever fusing equipment they had available as they built units. I don't know if all the 2000 models had in-line cartridge fuses or not.

I bought an in line 30 amp circuit breaker that plugs into the existing fuse receptacle. But, I also keep some 30 amp fuses on hand.

Same thing happened to me last week. We had to angle in when parking and didn't have enough room to straighten out the truck to unhitch from the Pull-Right by driving. Had to elevate the landing gear to get the pin out of the hitch. The pin got hung up and shorted out the fuse. Had to finish cranking Monty up by hand. Took me forever to find the in-line 30 amp little blade fuse.

Ours uses a 40 amp two blade (standard, not mini) fuse. When looking for an auto reset breaker to replace the fuse (we recently blew a fuse for the first time) I could find lots of 30 amps that would slide right into the fuse receptacle but none of that type in 40 amp. so I bought a post type 40 amp breaker and will have to screw it to a wall and cut wires, etc. to put it in place. Surew would have been nice to find the 40 amp breaker to fit the fuse receptacle.

For those of you with the 30 amp setup, Pep Boys and other auto parts stores have the 30 amp auto reset breaker that fits right into your fuse receptacle (two blade, that is) for under five bucks. That would be what Waynem has.

I have a 2005, 2955RL. After reading this thread I just went out to see if I had a in-line Fuse. Bingo, after some looking there it was. It appears to be in a plastic sleeve that opens up. However, on one end of the sleeve is a band rapped around the sleeve that says 30amp. It also appears to have shrink tubing at each end. I tried to pry open the sleeve, but it was reluctant to open. It appears you would have to breake the band to open the sleeve. Is there a trick to this or am I just handycaped.
