Campground near Atlanta, Georgia

We are planning a trip to Atlanta this summer any suggestions for
campgrounds?

There are some beautiful Corp of Engineer campgrounds northeast of Atlanta. They don't have sewer connections, typical of COE campgrounds but they are beautiful. You can check at ReserveAmerica.

It sounds like Judy might be describing the COE campgrounds on Lake Lanier. Either way, I would heartily recommend Old Federal. It has beautiful lake views from every spot, with some sites exposed to full sun and others wooded. We camped there last July in site 75 and the water wraps around that spot on two sides, so you have wonderful views, especially when the sailboats go by.

3 words "Stone Mountain Park".

Stayed there a couple years ago and will definitely return.

If you go to Stone Mtn Park, WATCH THE WATER PRESSURE. It is WAY high (around 100 PSI). Be sure to use a pressure regulator on the water outlet.

Once more I find myself in agreement with Glenn. We have stayed at Stone Mountain Park over a period of 40 years, first in a tent and now in our Montana. The sites are not the most level, but we have never found a better base for our Atlanta visits.

You're right, J.D., it is Lake Lanier. Thanks, I couldn't come up with the name of the lake when I was posting. Something about some senior condition....
