Shackle Prices

Just a little heads up for thoses who are shopping for the 'wet bolt'upgrade.

Google the part number (K71-449-00, for example). I just found prices from $119.99 to $233.99.

This is as of 10:15AM 24SEPT09.

Hope this will help a bit.

Bill,
Thanks for the info....I am looking for the wet bolt kit for our rig and there are some good prices out there using the Google search you recommended. On the Dexter website it states that "K71-449-00" replaces "A/P 264-00". Question: How do I figure out what I have and which replacement part no./kit I need I know my axle spacing is 35", tandem axles. leaf springs. Any help/input is appreciated.
Jack

At the rally, Dexter's wet bolt kit didn't include the z brackets but Mor Ryde's did. Mor Ryde was a bit more expensive but had more parts.

Senior Chief,
I think Jim has the answer...you have the Mor-Ryde whereas that number I used is for the 'old' style. Give Dexter a ring, they are prety good about answering questions. Just a tad pricey on parts, etc.

Keep us all up to date on what you find out.

I saw an interesting reaction between Dexter and Mor/ryde when it came to pricing of wet bolts.

If you buy from Dexter and have the Mor/ryde suspension make sure Dexter quotes you a price that includes the Mor/ryde Z brackets needed to connect to their suspension.

At the rally Dexter quoted a price and did not include the Z brackets. Therefore, their price was lower. This is not a slam towards Dexter just what happened.

Make sure your price includes all the needed parts.

Jack--

Mor/ryde offerred the wet bolt shackle kit for a "rally special" price of $149 for the kit at the Fall Rally. You might see if they will give you that rally price if you decide to get the kit from them.

When I called Dexter first, in June they told me I had to get mine from Morryde as they did not have the brackets(zbkt), so I did at the rally in Oregon.

Thanks David,
They offered the same price at the rally we attended at Seven Feathers in June. I wasn't even thinking about it then as the rig was only a couple of months old. But now I figure I better go ahead and get it done before I have any issues

Just got a reply to my e-mail requesting information form Ben Wiginton at Morryde Sales. He stated that Kit LRE12-001 will supply all the parts I would need. Price is 153.29 plus shipping. Looks like I will need to order them tomorrow.

Jim, make sure when installing them that you try to pump grease through each one before installing because many (myself included) have found pins that weren't drilled all the way through. Make sure to install with the holes in the 3 or 9 o'clock position, and you might want to chamfer the holes too.
