Tires-LT265/70R17-E

OK guys. I need new tires,my Michelin LTX A/S are full of cracks on the side wall's. Have seen the Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires and they seem pretty good. Also have a chance to get Bridgestone M700's,they are take offs and have about 100 miles on them. Which tire would you get. Thanks.........Bill

I would look at Yokohama's Just but a set for my 2500HD and my wife's Equanox very please with both.

Personally, I like the Michelin's on my truck. Have Bridgestone's on the rig. A great ride and tread wear.

In my opinion Michelin's is top of the line. All my trucks and RV except the one I own now have had them and never a problem.

Hi Bill how many miles are on your truck,,i have 32000 and my goodyear look like the can get cabout 15000 more miles .. i thought you had about that many miles on that blue mach.. sailer

I suppose tires are like fifthwheels and trucks, everyone has an opinion and nobody is wrong. On my prior truck I got 70,000 miles and no balance problems and good ride from BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A tires in the LT265/70R17 size. They had another 5 to 7k of tread left but we were getting into December with snow/ice potential and I wanted deeper tread. Went with the same tire.

I was thrilled when this Dodge came with exactly the same BFG tires. At 30,000 miles they look like they'll easily go 70k, too.

Lots of good tires out there but for my money the BFG seems to be a better bang for the buck. Just as many miles, better price. But you should go with the tires you feel best about.

Not only do we all have differing opinions but we all have different trucks too. Every truck wears the tires differently AND not every alignment shop aligns front ends the same way. I could elaborate on the alignment of my truck but that would take the thread off topic.

Good point, Orv. To clarify my post, the 70k miles was on a 2005 F250 4x4. The Ford 4x4 (2005 and later) frontend is much easier on tires than the 4x2 (and 2004 and earlier all models) twin I-beam front suspension. This Dodge is doing just as well so far and is a 3500 megacab 4x4.

They sound like excellent tires. I'm not in the market yet, but like to plan ahead...are they 'all season' or 'off road' or just plain ole 'truck tires?'

Thanks guys. I think i'm leaning towards the Michelin A/T 2, and also saw some Bridgestone Dueler A/T 694 Revo's. Decisions,decisions.

Bill Hoover, they are all season tires. This picture might give you an idea of the tread. This tire was on the Ford F250 at just over 50,000 miles.


I was a bit surprised how well the entire set wore since in that 70k miles I rotated them only once, at 33k miles according to my records.

I used to run Michelin and those are excellent tires but I found these BFG give me just as many miles, just as good a ride and traction, and cost less. That's just my experience, though. Others may have different experience.

I'm certainly no tire expert, but if I only had a set of tires 3.5 years and they were cracking in the sidewalls I don't think I would be buying the same tires, Michelin or not. Just my opinion.

Bill its time to trade that truck and get a f350 or a duramax sailer maybe wait till 2012 for that toyota

Hi John

Why would i get rid of my blue machine? Going to Florida in March I got 14.8 miles per US gallon. This was hand calculated.
