Ford '08 Super Duty 250/350 listed towing spec's.
An automatic tranny 6.4 Power Stroke SRW Crew Cab: The 250/350 are listed under the same column, (as 250/350) 5th Wheel-Maximum loaded trailer weight ratings in Lbs. is 15,700 for the 4x2/4x4 and 15,200 for the 4x4.
Conventional towing is 12,500 for both the 250 and the 350 SRW.
My sticker on my door column reads GVWR 10,000#
GAWR Front 5600# Rear 6100# I have 18" Load Range E tires.

Is your new truck an F250 or F350? I'd be curious as to the cargo capacity on the sticker.

Ozz, actually the capacity is less in 2008 -
2006
An automatic tranny 6.0 Power Stroke SRW Crew Cab: The 250/350 are listed under the same column, (as 250/350) 5th Wheel-Maximum loaded trailer weight ratings in Lbs. is 15,900 for the 4x2/4x4 and 15,500 for the 4x4.
Conventional towing was also 12,500 for both the 250 and the 350 SRW.
That takes care of what the diesel powerstroke will drag down the pavement or how it would do in a tractor pull. Numbers would be close to the same if the drivetrain was installed in a F550 or F450 (or even an F150 or Ranger if it fit).
As far as payload -
My sticker (2006 F350) GVWR 11,400#
GAWR Front 5,600# Rear 7,000# I have 18" Load Range E tires.
Not sure what your 2006 F250 door sticker numbers were - were they that much different?

bsmeaton, wrong sticker, that sticker has nothing to do with cargo capacity. I'm talking about the sticker on the left rear door (or maybe it's the door pillar on a Ford) called, "Tire And Loading Information". It lists the total amount (in pounds) of persons and cargo that should never be exceeded.

The tire and loading sticker is provided by the manufacturer based on the tire manufacturer specs and dry curb weight of the truck. That capacity potentially changes if you ever change tire brand, size, or rating with tires of a different load capacity.
The "Real" sticker is the one I quoted that gives the factory
GVWR based on the construction of the truck. That number minus the curb weight is my "cargo capacity" and will never change unless I modify the truck.

WOW i would have thought the 6.4 had more towing cap. than my 6.0. Mine is rated for 16,100 5th wheel and 12,500 for conventional. 08 must be heavier.

An extra 600 lbs is great Ozz!
Ford either raised the rating or your truck has one of the suspension upgrades. Not sure what they have now - used to have stuff for campers, snowplows, etc.

Agree with what you are saying, but I'm talking about the other "real" sticker. It lists the maximum weight that must never be exceeded, regardless of tires or anything else that are changed. It says, "The combined weight of cargo and occupants should never exceed xxxx pounds."

Jim, those numbers are almost identical to my 2005 F250 crewcab shortbed except my tow rating was 15,400. GVWR was 10,000 and GCWR was 23,000. Axles were same as yours but I had the 17" LR E tires. They raised the capacities starting with the 2005 models when they went to the heavy frame, the really heavy front suspension on the 4x4 models and the larger brakes.

The 08F-350 dually 6.4L that I just built has the Payload package 1C..13,000lbs GVWR 4830lbs max payload... Note that my 05 has the 12,600 payload package and it is a V-10.I thought I might need the 12,600lb payload package because I did not know what my PIN WEIGHT might be.
The 08 F-250 is Payload package 1C..10,000 lbs GVWR, max payload 2419lbs. So no matter how you crunch the numbers the F-350 hauls a lot more camper than the F-250 and stays within spec's. The F-350 has 2411 lbs more pay load capacity. Pay load is were you put the PIN WEIGHT. You got to look at ALL the numbers..

As Richfaa pointed out, this would be the Payload Capacity. As an example, my "sticker" (2005 F-350 CC LB PSD) shows a max payload of 3552. So when I'm travelling somewhat "normal" I have a little over 2400 lbs weight on the pin, and another 1000 lbs in passengers, dogs, tools, and hitch. So normally I am still within the "sticker".

I'm virtually the same, 2500 PW and 1000 other things (hitch, tools, passengers, ice chest, etc).

Part of the reason for trading in a perfectly good 2005 F-250 Super Duty, extended cab PSD on a 2008 F-350 Super Duty, extended cab PSD SRW with payload package 1-C and an added Camper Package was the substantial increase in bed capacity and total carrying capacity over the 2005 Super Duty.
The 2005 ( with two persons aboard ) actually weighed #7760, which left #2040 on the total #9800 capacity.
The new 2008 F-350 has a listed GVWR of 11200 (SRW) plus I've added the Camper package to bring it up to #11500 (This #11500 figure is a guestimate as I really do not know the total capacity for sure yet ). If anybody has weighed their 2008 F0350 Super Duty, Extended Cab, SRW Lariat without the 5th wheel would you advise me of your truck weight.
