Wierd water question

Our preference for morning coffee is to use one of those French Press glass containers - where you add coffee grounds (no filter), pour in boiling water, put the top on, let it sit for 4-5 minutes, then push down the plunger/filter, and pour your coffee.

We use the same Press container at home, then include it in our stuff to pack when we go camping. We use plastic water bottles for drinking water. We use a pot with "non-stick" to boil the water, altho we've never had to rely on the "non-stick_ for boiled water, so far!

Our first pot of coffee will have that distinct, ugly "plastic" taste, and we can't figger out where it comes from! The second pot of coffee, using the same water, pot, and press, will taste fine! Subsequent pots of coffee are fine. But that first pot, each time we go out is really "YUCKO" (At home, we use one of those corning glass pots, and don't have the problem)

Could it be the pot we boil the water in?? Anyone ever heard of such a thing?? See I said this was a wierd question....
